Today I want to show you some 360° panorama photos. I took all the pictures in two or three rows, depending on the focal length used. So the complete room or area outside is always shown.

Heute will ich euch einige 360° Panoramafotos zeigen.

I stitched these two panos from the same individual shots. In Hugin I only changed the projection. In principle, in Hugin you can freely choose the "location" of the viewer in three-dimensional space. The pictures show the empty department stores' Kaufhaus Görlitz.

I also used the same raw data for both versions of these panorama pictures from the old paper factory. Usually I first create a cylindrical projection that corresponds to the actual view from the position of the camera. It's like standing in the room and turning once to look at the whole room. Or, in other words, if you were to print the result in its original size and form it into a cylinder, you would then stand in the middle of the cylinder and look at the room. The floor and ceiling were included and also shown, but in this projection they were folded down and up to express it simply.

The other projections in each case are physically impossible, as is immediately clear with the panorama of the church in Żeliszów. I cannot photograph from the floor of the church. Nor is it possible from the ceiling of the paper mill. Even in these projections, the complete space is still shown. I usually find these projections much more exciting than the "flat" representation. Most of the time, the inclined viewer stays in the picture much longer because he tries to fathom what is being depicted there in the first place and why it looks so strange.

When shooting outdoors, it is usually quicker to grasp what is being depicted and where "up" and "down" are, at least when the sky is included. I'm still fascinated by this kind of photography, even though I've been doing it for many years and it's a bit playful and not very serious.
