Revitalizing My Business #2: A Logo with a Little Magic

When I decided to get Bell Art back on track, I knew that simply dedicating more time to my creations wouldn't be enough. I also wanted to refresh my business's image and make sure it better reflected my personality and what I want my brand to communicate. That's why one of my first steps was to rebrand, starting with the logo.
I wanted the new image to have a special meaning for me, something beyond just being a pretty drawing. After giving it some thought, I decided to use Tinker Bell's wings as the main element.
Why Tinker Bell? Because that was the nickname my classmates gave me at school. It's a personal memory that has stayed with me, and I found a way to incorporate it into my business. In addition, Tinker Bell is a craft fairy in the Tinker Bell movies, where fairies have different talents and dedicate themselves to creating and building things. That connection felt perfect for Bell Art because my business also revolves around creativity and handmade products. The fairy's wings thus became the main element of my new logo, bringing together a part of my personal story and the artisanal essence of my brand.

Another detail I incorporated was the North Star, as a symbol of direction and guidance. I like the idea that even when we aren't entirely sure which path to take, we can always find something to help us move forward. In a way, it also represents this new stage of my business: an opportunity to find my direction again, set new goals, and continue growing.
Colors were also an important part of the process. I chose lilac because it's one of my favorite colors, and I wanted it to take center stage in the visual identity. From there, I created a color palette with other shades that would contrast with and complement the main color, aiming for a balance that would make the brand feel harmonious and recognizable.
Of course, the logo wouldn't be complete without typography that complemented the design. I worked on a typeface that matched the shape and delicacy of the wings, making sure the letters and the symbol complemented each other rather than competed for attention. I wanted all the elements to feel like parts of the same idea.

Once the logo was finalized, I continued working on Bell Art's visual identity. I created mockups to see how the brand would look on different materials, along with stickers and other graphic resources to help me maintain a consistent image. This part of the process was important because it allowed me to move beyond having just a logo and start building a more complete brand identity.
Working on this rebranding made me think about something: when we're entrepreneurs, we sometimes focus so much on creating and producing that we leave other important aspects of our businesses for later. However, visual identity also communicates who we are, what we do, and how we want people to remember our work.
With this new image, I feel that Bell Art has an identity that is closer to me, my tastes, and the idea of craft fairies I want to convey. There's still a lot to do, but this is another step in the process of revitalizing my business.
In the upcoming chapters, I'll share more details about this project and the new things I'm preparing. Because although there's magic in every creation, there's also a lot of work, planning, and decision-making behind a handmade business.
See you in the next installment of Revitalizing My Business!
