Alphabet Hunt: Six things that begin with C
We continue with the Alphabet Hunt from Bangla Hive, and this time the chosen letter is C. Each time, I find it more curious to search through my own photographs for things that can be related to a letter, because I end up finding memories that I may have forgotten.
These are my six words for this occasion.
1.Crochet
In this photograph, I share two small Crochet bunnies that I made for a friend. I really enjoy making crafts, and although each piece can take time and dedication, I especially enjoy creating something while thinking about a particular person.
These two bunnies were made with love and ended up being a small gift for someone special.
2.Car
I am a car lover, a passion I inherited from my dad. This Car belongs to my tutor and has become my most recent object of admiration.
At first glance, it may seem like a simple car, but it has something that makes it very special to me: it is 100% electric. That makes it very comfortable and practical, and I must admit that since I first saw it, it has caught my attention a lot.
3.Column
As a structural engineer, I cannot help photographing things related to my profession when I am walking down the street. It is almost like a habit: something can catch my attention simply because I see a structural detail that I find interesting.
That is the case with this old building, where a failure can be seen right at the support of the Column.
It makes me sad to see a neoclassical building like this, with its beautiful columns and capitals, in such condition. For someone who works with structures, besides being an interesting image from a professional point of view, it is also inevitable to think about everything that a building like this represents and the importance of preserving it.
4.Computer
Practically all my work can be summed up in a Computer. As a structural engineer, I spend a large part of my time working with programs related to design and calculations, although curiously, I almost never take photographs of my computer.
This image is from an occasion when we used a program to model a piece in 3D that would later be used in a 3D printer. It was one of those different experiences that end up being kept in a photograph.
5.Cat
I am not exactly a cat person, and this Cat is not particularly affectionate either. However, there was one occasion when I was sick at my mother-in-law's house, and something happened that I still remember fondly.
The cat came and lay down next to me and stayed there until I felt better.
Perhaps for her it was simply a comfortable place to rest, but I like to think that, somehow, she decided to keep me company at that moment. And although it has not changed my opinion about cats, that little gesture did make me look at her differently.
6.Coffee
I am not a Coffee lover either, although from time to time I usually go with my boyfriend to places where coffee is served. Of course, I normally end up ordering something else.
That day, he ordered this coffee and, when I saw the beautiful drawing they had made on the foam, it made me wish I liked coffee just so I could order one like that.
Sometimes the presentation of something can make us want to try it, even when we know that we will probably continue preferring something else.
These are my six words for the letter C. A small collection of photographs that, once again, ended up taking me through different parts of my life: from the things I make with my hands to my profession, my family, my work, and those little everyday moments that end up becoming memories.
