While remaining single provides benefits that are certainly desirable at some stages in life, such as focus on oneself, personal aspirations, travel, professional development and the time for a deeper exploration of oneself, it can sometimes also feel like you are on a quest to reach something you're supposed to find together. For many, this time spent alone can contribute towards developing self-esteem and strong character.
However, the certain joys and profound happiness a committed relationship brings simply cannot be duplicated when one is single. The existence of someone to offer comfort in trying times, share triumphs with, and generally navigate life’s adventures together is something that adds tremendous joy to one's life.
True companionship is based on trust, respect, understanding and shared dreams-it’s less about need and more about growth, encouraging one another to become better versions of ourselves while sharing the journey.
One cannot compromise the love one has for him or herself and their individual aspirations just for the sake of being in a relationship. But if two people truly love and care about each other, the relationship is capable of fueling one another’s positive development and building happy memories together while nurturing individuality.
In the end, there's no right or wrong choice and what is considered the best is subjective to an individual.
Ultimately, what matters is having contentment, continued growth and an individual happiness.
In a nutshell, if I were to have a choice between being single and in a relationship, I would choose the latter but only if I were truly in love and sharing my life with someone who is not just my lover but my best friend and partner in life.
