One development that I am very excited about in the Philippines is the use of YouTube as an educational video tool. I used to believe that you needed to be talented and have a lot of expensive technology and technical knowledge to make a video, but with technology and AI tools that I found, even someone not as talented as myself can make a video.
I have been experimenting with how to create educational videos for kids. I write the scripts and ideas using ChatGPT. I then use Google Flow to expand on ideas and then get visual images and prompts for the images. I use Videos AI to take the pictures and prompts into a video.
What I love most is writing stories that are easy and that kids will learn something. Maybe about being kind, sharing, respecting parents, helping friends, saying sorry or being honest. That I want the videos to be funny but teach something good too.
Yes, AI doesn't mean I can just press a button and everything's done. I still have to come up with the topic, to figure out the topic of the day I want to teach, to check the story, to go through the lines to find the content suitable for children. Tools support me, but the idea is still from me.
What I've learned from this trend: You don't always have to be talented in order to start doing. Sometimes, you just have to be ready to learn and begin!
Technology gives anyone an opportunity, like it gave me. I may not be good at creating stunning illustrations, writing exquisite storyboards, or professionally editing a video. But here I am - experimenting and learning as I go.
I also discovered that we need to think as humans, be creative, generate ideas and make responsible decisions about the information we put online and not just rely on AI to do this for us.
Though it is important that I want my videos to gain views or subscribers, I do not create these videos for that reason. For me, I want at least one child to watch one of my videos and learn something.
Perhaps I haven't got the talent, but if I have the ingenuity, patience and technology, I can still produce something worthwhile.
