(ENG ) Reconnecting with Nature

Good afternoon, dear friends of the Holos and Lotus community. Today I would like to share with you a day with me at my parents' house, where we all dedicate ourselves to cleaning, planting, and harvesting fruits from our patio. And these moments have been especially pleasing to me, because as a family we can reconnect with nature, set aside the rush, and look at each other calmly.

Personally, this contact with the earth, the trees, and the little animals revitalizes me; being able to harvest the fruits of what we once planted and, in turn, continue planting so we can harvest in the future. It is something so elementary and key in all aspects of life—whether economic, professional, or spiritual—and nature teaches it to you in a simple and wise way.

Sometimes daily life absorbs you and doesn't allow you to contemplate what we have beside us, but I firmly believe that these contacts strengthen us and teach us a lot about how to journey through life. In my parents' patio I learned that not everything is solved with haste: you have to prepare the soil, remove the weeds, water consistently, and wait for the right time. The same happens with projects, dreams, and relationships.

Leaving my little patio and expanding toward everything around us, one could say that nature regulates everything and provides us with what we need: from medicine to the energy to move and live. Very popular and longed-for in Cuba right now is solar energy; but it also gives us concentration, peace, and harmony. The sun, the wind, the rain, and the earth remind us that we are part of a cycle, not its owners.

According to the American Psychological Association, “exposure to nature has been linked to numerous benefits, such as greater attention, lower stress, better mood, lower risk of psychiatric disorders, and even increased empathy and cooperation.” That is why, when I clean, plant, or harvest a fruit, I feel that I also put something in order inside myself. Nature not only nourishes the body; it also heals the mind and spirit.
That is why it seemed to me an ideal space to share these experiences, and to invite you to look at what is essential: well-being, awareness, connection with the earth, and gratitude. It is not just about posting a pretty photo of the patio, but about conveying a message: we can live more simply, support each other as a family, and learn from natural cycles. In such a turbulent world, taking refuge in our Mother Earth is an act of resistance and hope.
Today I urge you to look at your own patios, flowerpots, rooftops, or nearby spaces. If you don't have land, plant a seed in a container; if you don't have a garden, care for a plant; if you can't plant, give thanks for what life gives you. Nature always has a lesson: patience, constancy, humility, and cooperation. May she guide us and protect us so we can achieve our goals and be better human beings.
