“Luck is when opportunity knocks, and you answer” – Anne Frank
I was inspired today to talk about luck. It is Irish month after all.
Luck, to me, is the opposite of lack. Now, you might be thinking, well isn't abundance the opposite of lack Larry? Yes, it is and I believe the two are synonymous. Abundance seems to come to those who think, speak, feel, and act abundantly. Opportunities show up, ideas flow, inspiration, collaboration, and serendipitous encounters come frequently. But there is no such thing as coincidence. It is simply the alignment of who you are and what you're vibrating with the cosmic order of things.
When we have removed all the barriers, all the beliefs that say we can't have what we want. When we aren't feeling the feeling of the wish fulfilled and absolutely knowing that it's coming, we relax. We see everything as happening for our greatest good. We move through life more fluidly. Our eyes, ears, and minds open to possibilities.
So luck is simply just opportunity, and there is an abundance of opportunity if you believe there is. When we adopt the belief that everything is always working out for us, we remove the fear and doubt. Then opportunities seem to come as if by magic.
However, if we are not in alignment and not ready to see those opportunities, we will be blinded to them. For example, twice in my life over the past 10 years, I was given the opportunity to be heavily invested in cryptocurrency. If I had taken that opportunity it would make me a multimillionaire today. At the time though, I was stuck in fear and scarcity. I wanted to believe in abundance, I truly did, however, in my heart, I was so afraid. Always moving through life with nothing but fear and it blinded me to opportunities. I believe everything happened the way it was supposed to and I learned everything I was supposed to learn. I am completely grateful with absolutely no regrets of how things unfolded. Looking back now, I couldn't see opportunity until I was on the right frequency for it. It wasn't until I was open minded and open hearted that I could see the opportunities.
There was a study done about 15 years ago, where a scientist tried to uncover what makes people lucky. I always find it entertaining when science tries to quantify law of attraction or philosophy. Anyway, they took a group of people, some who consider themselves very lucky and some who consider themselves completely unlucky. Then they put a $20 bill on the street and had them walk down the street. The lucky people saw the $20 bill and picked it up. The unlucky people didn't even see it. They were so clouded by their own beliefs of being unlucky, beliefs of scarcity, that they couldn’t even see it. The lucky people were open. They were ready for opportunities. They knew that they would attract them down to their core and of course, they saw the $20.
The big part of that story, that might get overlooked by some, is that not only did they see the $20 but that they went and picked it up. It's not just seeing opportunity, it is following it. Especially when it's an easy one like picking up money. They didn't have a fear of, “Oh who's money is this” or “I feel so bad for the rightful owner” or “How did this happen” or any of that stuff. It was most likely thoughts of “The Universe provided this for me” and they picked it up.
So then luck is twofold. It's not only being open to new opportunities, but it's seizing them. It is trusting in the wisdom of the Universe that the opportunity presented itself to you for a reason. When you think that way there is no fear in following the opportunity.
If you stick with the practice of removing blockages, removing negative beliefs, removing complaining. Then manifesting by feeling the feelings of the wish fulfilled and head towards your inspiration. The more you follow it, the more things will magically occur. Everyone will think you are extremely lucky, but you'll know the truth.
Truth it is not luck at all. It only looks like luck from the outside. It's law of attraction. It is universal truth. What is liken to itself is drawn. Perceived as coincidence.
Have you ever come across somebody who said, “Oh, just my luck?” Then watched as whatever they were talking about went to shit. Don't be that person because you know what's going to happen to them. Negative things will be drawn to them like a lightning rod. They're couldn’t see an opportunity if it was wrapped in gold and laid at their feet.
When you are truly ready, and you’ll know when that is. Then tell the Universe every day that you're open and ready for opportunities. The way you handle money shows the universe that you're ready for more. The way you're grateful for what you have, shows the universe that you're ready for more. The more you focus on what it is you love about life, the more will be given to you. One day the inspiration will come, and you'll trust it and follow it to a life of your dreams. Then you’ll be one of the “Lucky Ones.”
