When we talk about success, one question that always comes to my mind is, does success really come from hard work, or is luck also involved? For me, I believe hard work and luck work hand in hand when it comes to success. I don't think we can say that success is only about working hard because life does not always work that way.
I have seen a lot of hardworking people who are still not successful. Some of them even work harder than their mates, but somehow things don't seem to work out for them. They wake up early, work long hours, sacrifice a lot, and keep trying, but they still struggle to get the results they deserve. When I see things like this, it makes me wonder if hard work is really enough.
At the same time, we sometimes look at some successful people and wonder how they made it. You see someone who suddenly becomes successful, and you might think, "What did this person do that I didn't do?" Sometimes, they were simply lucky to meet the right person, get the right opportunity, or be in the right place at the right time. Maybe someone introduced them to a business opportunity, or they got a job when they really needed one. These things can make a big difference in someone's life.
But I don't believe luck can do everything. If luck gives you an opportunity and you are not prepared for it, you might lose that opportunity. This is where hard work comes in. Hard work prepares you for the moment when your opportunity finally comes.
Imagine two people who want to become successful in business. One of them keeps learning, saving money, gaining experience, and trying different things. The other person does not put in much effort but keeps hoping that one day luck will find them. If an opportunity comes, I think the person who has been preparing is more likely to make good use of it.
This is why I believe we need both luck and hard work. We cannot control everything that happens to us. Sometimes we can work extremely hard and still not get the result we want. But that doesn't mean we should stop working hard. At the same time, when an unexpected opportunity comes our way, we should be ready to take it.
So, what would I do if my biggest opportunity came tomorrow?
Honestly, I would probably feel nervous at first, because big opportunities can also come with big risks. But I would not allow fear to make me run away from it. I would try to understand the opportunity properly, ask questions if I needed to, and prepare myself as much as possible. If it is something that can move me closer to my goals, I would give it my best shot.
I also believe that we should not compare our journey too much with other people's journeys. Someone might become successful at 20, while another person might not find their breakthrough until 40. That does not mean one person worked harder than the other. Sometimes their opportunities, circumstances, and timing were simply different.
To me, I believe success is a combination of hard work, opportunity, timing, and sometimes a little bit of luck. Hard work keeps us moving, while luck can sometimes open a door we never expected. But when that door opens, we have to be prepared to walk through it.
Maybe we cannot control our luck, but we can control how prepared we are when luck finally comes our way.
