Cuando tome esa foto hace unos meses para al concurso, me vino a mi mente esa época de opulencia de grandeza del centro comercial plaza mayor en lechería ea foto la tomé alrededor de las 9 o después de las nueve o un poco antes de las 9 de la noche, y justamente ese pasillo era o fue en una época el pasillo más superconcurrido de plaza mayor, porque justamente por ese pasillo llegabas justamente a la mejor feria de comida que existía en todo lechería, puerto la cruz y Barcelona.

De verdad era algo grandioso ver la vida de ese pasillo por allí estaban las mejores tiendas de ropa y me acuerdo de que estaba algo de videojuegos que se llama Replay, y ahora en ese local está donde trabajo y se llama Tron Gamers arena es un local de videojuegos nada parecido a Replay, pero creo que estamos dando la batalla y le mejor de todo es que ahora y a pesar de la foto y de la hora ese pasillo está tomando vida.
Ayer mientras caminaba de nuevo por ese pasillo me tope con la remodelación de un local donde estarán colocando un puesto de comida rápida eso me dio mucha emoción porque sé que se estará reactivando esa feria de comida.

No sé si a ustedes les pasa lo mismo, pero cuando uno ve renacer un lugar que en algún momento estuvo lleno de vida y después quedó como fantasma, es una sensación bien particular, una mezcla de nostalgia con esperanza, porque uno recuerda lo que fue, pero al mismo tiempo empieza a soñar con lo que puede volver a ser.

Plaza Mayor para mí no es solo un centro comercial, es parte de mi historia, de mis recuerdos y hasta de mi vida laboral actual, porque justo en ese pasillo, en ese mismo lugar donde antes quedaba Replay, es donde hoy trabajo, así que de alguna manera nunca me fui de allí, solo cambié de rol, ver esa remodelación no es solo ver obreros trabajando o ver un local en ese proceso, es ver una señal de que la vida vuelve a esos espacios que uno pensó que en cualquier momento iba a resurgir, y eso a mí me llena de una emoción difícil de explicar, porque yo viví esa feria de comida en su mejor momento, cuando uno no sabía ni en cuál puesto comer primero de tantas opciones que había, y ahora la idea de verla revivir, aunque sea poco a poco, me hace sentir que ese pasillo silencioso de la foto todavía tiene mucha historia por escribir.

Quizás dentro de unos meses vuelva a tomar otra foto de ese mismo pasillo, pero esta vez lleno de gente, para que ustedes puedan imaginar los olores a comida, con el bullicio de las conversaciones, y ahí sí voy a poder comparar con orgullo el antes y el después, esa es la magia de la vida, que aunque a veces las cosas se apaguen, siempre hay una oportunidad de que vuelvan a seguir adelante dando vida nuevamente a ese centro comercial.

Now, that same spot is where I work, and it’s called Tron Gamers Arena. It’s a gaming lounge, nothing like Replay, but I think we are putting up a good fight. The best part of all is that now, despite how the photo looks and despite the hour, that hallway is coming back to life. Yesterday, as I walked down that corridor again, I came across the remodeling of a commercial space where they will be putting a fast-food stand. That made me very excited because I know the food court is being revitalized.

I don’t know if the same thing happens to you, but when you see a place reborn—one that was once full of life and later became a ghost town—it’s a very unique feeling. It is a mix of nostalgia and hope, because you remember what it used to be, but at the same time, you start dreaming about what it can become again.

For me, Plaza Mayor is not just a shopping mall; it is part of my history, my memories, and even my current work life. Right in that hallway, in the exact same spot where Replay used to be, is where I work today. So, in a way, I never left; I just changed roles. Seeing that remodeling is not just seeing construction workers or a store in progress; it is seeing a sign that life is returning to those spaces that we always hoped would resurge. That fills me with an emotion that is hard to explain because I experienced that food court at its peak, when you didn't even know where to eat first because of so many options. Now, the idea of seeing it revive, even if it's little by little, makes me feel that the silent hallway in the photo still has a lot of history left to be written.

Maybe in a few months, I will take another photo of that same hallway, but this time full of people, so you can imagine the smell of food and the bustle of conversations. Then, I will truly be able to proudly compare the before and after. That is the magic of life: even though things sometimes fade away, there is always a chance for them to push forward, bringing life back to that shopping mall once again.
