Hello, dear Hive family! It’s a pleasure to pop in here to share with you a lovely story from my visit to the JNI (Nazarene Youth International) youth camp. I went with my husband to be part of the service team once again. It was a great blessing for us and a truly beautiful experience to see so many young people seeking God with all their hearts.
¡Hola querida familia de Hive! Es un placer pasar por acá para compartir con ustedes una bella anécdota en mi visita al campamento de jóvenes de la JNI (Juventud Nazarena Internacional). Fui junto a mi esposo para formar parte del equipo de servicio una vez más. Fue una gran bendición para nosotros y una experiencia muy bella ver tantos jóvenes buscando de corazón a Dios.
The theme of this camp was: ‘Deeper’, with four key areas of focus or four fundamental principles: seeking God more deeply, worshipping more deeply, living more deeply and serving more deeply. I treasured this beautiful message in my heart and took it as a challenge to take my personal relationship with God to the next level.
El tema de este campamento fue: "Más profundo", con cuatro énfasis o cuatro principios fundamentales: buscar a Dios más profundo, adorar más profundo, vivir más profundo y servir más profundo. Este hermoso mensaje lo atesoré en mi corazón y lo tomé como un reto de subir de nivel en mi relación personal con Dios.
As we were part of the service team, we had to arrive a day before the camp began to get everything ready for when the campers arrived, who were full of joy and enthusiasm. Something I really liked was that this year we had a Welcome Committee: a group of young people dedicated to cheering and holding up signs to welcome all the arriving campers.
Como éramos del equipo de servicio tuvimos que llegar un día antes de que empezara el campamento para dejar todo listo para cuando llegaran los campistas, caracterizados por toda su alegría y entusiasmo. Algo que me gustó mucho fue que este año tuvimos Comité de Bienvenida, un grupo de jóvenes se dedicó a hacer porras y con carteles darle la bienvenida a todos los campistas que llegaban.
We held sports competitions, which are always a favourite part of the camp for the young people every year, as it’s a chance for them to have a great time with some very creative and innovative games. They were divided into teams of different colours, and the winning team received a prize for their efforts.
Tuvimos competencias deportivas, que es de las partes favoritas de los jóvenes cada año, porque en ese momento pueden divertirse en gran manera con juegos muy creativos y novedosos. Se dividieron en equipos de varios colores y el equipo ganador recibió un premio por su esfuerzo.
I absolutely loved watching my husband play the bass; it’s something he really enjoys, as he’s passionate about music. There were some lovely services; we sang hymns and shared the Word of God through various preachers who encouraged us to continue growing in our faith.
Me gustó muchísimo ver a mi esposo tocando el bajo, eso es algo que él disfruta muchísimo, ya que le apasiona la música. Hubo cultos muy bonitos, cantamos alabanzas y compartimos la palabra de Dios a través de varios predicadores que nos exhortaron a seguir creciendo en la fé.
My husband and I led the service and shared some activities and reflections with the young people. We celebrated Holy Communion, which is when the church, by sharing the bread and wine, remembers Jesus’ death as he sacrificed himself for us and proclaims his coming. It was a very moving moment.
Mi esposo y yo llevamos la dirección del culto y compartimos algunas dinámicas y reflexiones con los jóvenes. Tuvimos Santa Cena, que es cuando la iglesia al compartir el pan y el vino recordamos la muerte de Jesús al sacrificarse por nosotros y anunciamos su venida. Fue un momento muy emotivo.
I got to meet other young people and make new friends, as well as catch up with friends I’d made last year. It was a time for reunions and for forging new bonds. Nazarene churches from the west of the country attend this camp, so many of us don’t see each other very often. This event is therefore a great opportunity to strengthen relationships, get to know one another a little better, or catch up on how life is going.
Pude conocer a otros jóvenes y hacer amistades nuevas así como saludar a amistades que había hecho el año pasado. Fue un momento de reencuentros y de crear nuevos lazos. A este campamento van iglesias del Nazareno del Oeste del país, por tanto muchos de nosotros no nos vemos tan seguido. Así que este evento es una gran oportunidad para estrechar relaciones, conocernos un poco o más o ponernos al día sobre cómo va nuestra vida.
One thing I really enjoyed was that in the evening we spent time playing board games. I discovered games I’d never played before and which I ended up loving, such as ‘Ligero’. There were also dominoes, Parchís, checkers, and many others.
Algo que me gustó mucho fue que en la noche nos dedicamos a jugar juegos de mesa. Conocí juegos que nunca antes había practicado y que terminaron por encantarme como el Ligero. Además había dominó, parchís, damas, y muchos otros más.
At the entrance to the temple, we had a sheet decorated with messages that each camper had chosen to write as a memento. There was a bit of everything – some to make you laugh, some to move you; I must admit there were some very witty messages. This beautiful event has left a lasting impression on my heart, and I know it was the same for every camper. So we returned to our daily lives with a new challenge: ‘to go deeper’ – not to settle for the surface or to remain merely on the shore. I hope you enjoyed the post. Best wishes, until next time.
A la entrada del templo teníamos una sábana decorada con mensajes de recuerdo que cada campista quiso escribir. Había de todo, para reír, para emocionarse, confieso que habían mensajes muy ocurrentes. Este hermoso evento quedó marcado en mi corazón para siempre y sé que así mismo fue en cada campista. Así nos incorporamos a nuestra vida diaria con un nuevo reto: .."ir más profundo", no conformarnos con la superficie o con quedarnos solo en la orilla.
