Today is Sunday— church day! I'll admit I don't go to church every day or even every Sunday, but I do pray constantly—anytume, wherever I am, even while walking. However, the reason I'm going to church today is that my child's birthday is tomorrow, Monday. It's become a bit of a tradition for us that, even if we don't attend regularly, we make sure to go to church on our birthdays so, his dad and I brought him along.
I'm so happy he behaved throughout the Mass; even though he was fidgety and wanted to get up and walk around the church, his dad kept holding him and let him play with a small bottle of alcohol in his hands. I also brought Marie biscuits and Skyfkakes for him to snack on, especially since he saw other kids eating their own food.
After Mass, we go to the barbershop so he and his dad can get haircuts, but he goes first so his father can hold him steady.
While they were at the barbershop, I went into the public market to buy the ingredients I needed for cooking even though my husband had already done some shopping, there were items available inside the market that he hadn't been able to get at the store.
I bought glutinous rice to use tomorrow for biko and bilo-bilo, as well as some kakanin specifically kutsinta and bibingka because I got hungry after Mass; I ended up eating them while inside the barber shop.
We also stopped by the cake shop to place a reservation for tomorrow; since we don't have a freezer, I wanted to make sure a cake was reserved for my baby so we could just pick it up. Hehez.
We forgot to buy some ingredients for our viand today in the market, so another stopped again by the roadside to buy vegetables Malabar spinach, squash, eggplant and sponge gourd. Since we had some leftover grilled fish at home. My husband decided to use that as the protein component for our dish.
Do you cook vegetables with grilled fish as well?
Tonight, my sister and sister-in-law's are helping me decorate for my son's simple birthday celebration tomorrow. My nieces and nephews are also pitching in, each taking turns blowing up balloons haha.
I am truly grateful to have a family like them. To help us always anytime! I also feel incredibly blessed because the Lord never forsakes us; he constantly guides and sustains us, helping us resolve issues whether financial struggles or family conflicts whenever they arise.
