Dear Hive family. Warm greetings to you all. I hope you are all well and that God blesses you always. We’ve been having some very rainy days in my town lately, and the weather is cooler than usual. On top of that, as my husband and I had the day off, we had no choice but to have a film night at home with some chicharritas.
It’s lovely to have a snack whilst watching a good film or a series, and as I had a handful of plantains at home, I decided to make some delicious, crispy plantain chips. The sensation of tasting them whilst they’re still warm is simply exquisite. It took me a while to make them because I wanted to make plenty. I ended up filling a whole large bowl. I must admit I thought we wouldn’t be able to finish so many, but who am I kidding? We certainly did, and we were still left wanting more.

La sensación de probarlas calentitas es algo exquisito. Me tardé un poco en hacerlas porque quería que fuesen bastantes. Terminé llenando todo un recipiente grande. Confieso que pensaba que no podríamos con tanto, pero a quién engaño, sí pudimos y nos quedamos con ganas.
We were particularly enjoying a series we started watching recently called The Morning Show. It stars Jennifer Aniston, one of the famous leads from the well-known series Friends. Although the series we’re watching is much more recent, and so the actress appears much more mature compared to Friends, which is much older.
We also watched the Spider-Man film, a very recent version starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, who are a couple in real life. It was a really entertaining film, and we enjoyed it immensely.

We couldn’t miss out on a mystery film; the one we watched was called Enola Holmes. It was about none other than Sherlock Holmes’s sister. It’s also a fairly recent film, released in 2020.
We usually watch current films and series because my brother loves to keep up to date with these things and helps us out. Before I got married, I remember I hardly ever stopped to watch the telly, let alone any films or series. However, together with my husband, I’ve discovered that it’s an entertaining way to relax and spend time together. Of course, we don’t share the same taste in films, but we always manage to strike a balance—a happy medium—where we’re both satisfied.

The day flew by whilst we were having fun. My favourite part isn’t actually watching the films or series themselves, but the comments and jokes my husband and I make about what we’re watching. We laugh a lot, and I think that’s what keeps me hooked on watching the telly, because I tend to get distracted or bored quite easily. That’s one of the reasons why I didn’t used to watch much on the telly.

All in all, it was a wonderful day; the combination of rain, the cold, crisps and films is one of the best there is, at least in my opinion. It’s such a blessing to be able to enjoy happy moments with the family in the peace of our own home. It’s these simple memories that last the longest and are the most precious. What do you think?
