Swimming against the current
The first of the month has come and gone. Many have already given up on their New Years resolution. I have already started to see all the Youtubers and Bloggers over saturate the topic. There are many that joined various challenges and competitions to stay motivated. My gym is no different. Every year they host a transformation challenge. An eight-week challenge to surpass the New Years motivation and post January resolution give up's.
After moving, I lived closer and received free entrance into the volleyball gym. Playing three times a week become very cost effective and taxing on the body. It was and is fun to play. The first couple of weeks is always the hardest. Learning how to recover. When to take a rest day. For some, how to start is most challenging. For others, how to stay consistent. For even fewer, how to make part of your new norm is the most challenging part.
What were or are your goals ?
Typical Goals
Get Healthy. Join a gym. Become a vegan.
Read More. Watch less T.V. Create More memories. It's a tall order to fill.
Feels like swimming against a rip current before learning to swim. Without prep work, how can one possibly conquer all these goals? Prep work can seem like a chore in itself. Researching, arranging, all before the actual cooking itself. Until you find a book you can't put down. A recipe that you look forward to cooking.
I hope this year people stop talking about motivation and goals. I hope the conversation steers beyond it. What happens when you embrace this new lifestyle. What happens when healthy is the norm? What would the conversation look like then? What would your goals be like then?
A new normal.
A typical day.
Up by 6:00 am. Prayer. Shower. Small work goals. Simple healthy options.
Gym. Volleyball. Read. Sleep. Repeat.
