Mae Ai Luang Temple, Chiang Mai, Thailand : A Tai Yai art style temple.
Hello everyone. Mae Ai Luang Temple, A large temple with Tai Yai architecture and sculptures north of Chiang Mai. This temple is beautiful and famous in Mae Ai District. Built in A.D. 1926 (97 years old). And just received royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree in A.D. 1993.
If you go to Mae Ai District, you will see a pagoda and a large white buddha statue that is beautiful and outstanding of this temple side the highway 107. You can know right away that you have arrived at this temple. The pagoda and a large white buddha statue are the first highlights that I want to introduce to this temple.
The white square pagoda decorated with beautiful patterns with the top of the color gold pagoda. I like and think that this pagoda is very beautiful.
This large white Buddha image is a attitude of subduing mara buddha image, which looks gorgeous. And I really like this buddha statue too. But the foundation and stairs of the buddha image were not yet completed.
The second highlight that I would like to recommend for this temple is the large buddha image hall (viharn) of the temple. This large buddha image hall (viharn) is built in the style of Tai Yai art. Beautifully shaped and decorated with Tai Yai arts. High roofs built in tiers similar the castle.
The inside large buddha image hall (viharn) is also beautiful, decorated with many mural paintings. In addition, there are 2 main buddha images in this buddha image hall (viharn) : a color gold attitude of subduing mara buddha image and a white Tai Yai style vuddha image. The two vuddha statues look very gorgeous.
The third highlight of the temple is the small buddha image hall (viharn). The small buddha image hall (viharn) is on the side of the large buddha image hall (viharn). And the small buddha image hall (viharn) built like a large buddha image hall (viharn). But the front entrance staircase is a serpent staircase.
The inside of the viharn is decorated with beautiful buddhist mural paintings. The buddha image inside the buddha image hall (viharn) is a statue of buddhist saint named Phra Upakut.
The fourth highlight of the temple is a large sculpture of Phra Upakhut on a beautiful lotus-shaped foundation. Build a style of Tai Yai art. Below is a small Phra Upakhut and Ganesha. There is also a large black gong nearby.
The fifth highlight of the temple is a large pavilion in Tai Yai style. Inside the pavilion, there are many beautiful buddha images. Especially the main buddha image of the pavilion which is very beautiful.
The sixth highlight of the temple that I would like to introduce is the sculpture of Earth goddess, which looks gorgeous. Area front of the Earth goddess there are sculptures of two lions.
In addition, the entrance arch of the temple is beautiful in the style of Tai Yai art too. The roof of the entrance arch is built in tiers similar a castle like the the buddha image hall (viharn)'s temple.
This trip to Mae Ai Luang Temple is the second time for me and my wife. We go to this temple last month. And And we go to this temple for the first time almost 2 years ago. So this post, I intend to photograph Mae Ai Luang Temple again to share the beautiful of this temple with this community. On this visit for me and my wife, we see the changes of the temple. Of course we enjoyed this temple very much.
