Heyo! Here we go. I’m on my way to Los Angeles. For six years I’ve been doing this mid flight freewrites. I think they distract me from my nerves while flying, which I do not like. Prior to this flight, I texted my friends Junchy. She’s a flight attendant and has been for years. Although we’ve never met, I felt I needed to talk through some of this anxiety before today’s flight. She gave me some resources on hypnotherapy but the videos that were the most helpful were of a 28 year veteran pilot basically explaining why there isn’t anything to fear. That actually helped and I saved those videos for this flight.
So, currently, I’m somewhere over Nebraska. Turbulence is when I’ll really be tested. Thus far, other than a few bumps, it’s been a smooth flight. Once I land, I’ll be going to my friend Jamie’s. She’s been a great friend for years and she’s going to let me stay with her for the night in her guest bedroom. I will very much be looking forward to a nap once I pick my rental car up, so its good friends that facilitate that. I’ll most likely be meeting up with my friend Maria this evening, and tomorrow morning, making my way to La Cañada for my first shoot with Manku Geal.
I have a chance to meet Manku and Katy at Monsterpalooza in 2018. She and I have been Instagram friends for years so meeting was a big deal for us. We decided we needed to shoot, and although its been an exercise in delayed gratification because of COVID, it’s finally happening. Later that night, I’ll be shooting with my friend Natalie. That one is just for fun but it will be great to see her. She was instrumental in helping me work through the novel I wrote during 2020. She’s a professional writer, drop dead gorgeous. She has it all. That’ll be a great full first day.
Saturday is the day, though! That’s mainly why I decided to take this trip. I’ll be shooting with my friend Cindy. It’ll be the first time we haven’t seen each other in a full year since 2017. She’s become one of my absolute closest friends and I love her. She had a really hard 2020 and 2021, and I feel this shoot is what she needs to turn the corner towards positive energy and the gratification that comes with creative expression. I’ve booked another friend for hair and make-up and we may even go shopping for new wardrobe before the shoot.
Another shoot I’m looking forward to is this Sunday with Micheline Pitt. I’ve been talking about shoots from 2015 and how that time in my career was difficult for me emotionally. I mentioned that with the old company I worked for, “…battle lines were drawn and everyone had to pick a side.”. I actually took Micheline’s side, but the relationship did change. We didn’t talk for a few years, and in 2017, we reconciled and we’ve remained close friends ever since. I even met her husband Chip and he’s become one of my favorite people in LA. That shoot is going to be an instant classic.
Shortly thereafter, my brother @customnature will be arriving on Monday. I’ll be getting him from the airport and with a shoot or two in between, most of those three days we’ll be spending together. Years ago when we all made stupid money in the 2017 bull run, he bought a custom sculpted monster from Hollywood legend, Jordu Schell. He’s coming out to finally pick that up and I’m going to introduce him to
@thomaskuntzart. For as much of this trip is about work, it’s also become about dear friends and even family, which is really nice considering the isolation that’s been associated with the last 2 years.
After that, he’ll be going back to Pennsylvania and I’ll be moving on to San Diego after a couple big shoots in the afternoon. I’m going to San Diego mostly to meet my dear sweet @artdellavita. My friend and former
@facingsofficial work colleague Drew also lives there. We have a big project on the horizon so it’ll be good to talk specifics, roadmaps, etc., in person. We missed each other at NFT.NYC because I had to pull out of the event. I told him I would make it up to him and come out to see him in San Diego, so that’s what I’m doing. I booked a cute tiny home just outside of the city.
Finally, from there, I’ll be moving on and driving to Las Vegas. I have friends there I’d love to see but I’ll be shooting with fellow arachnid enthusiast and adult film actress, Charlotte Sartre and this is a collaboration that’s been in the making for years! If our schedules didn’t work out, I most likely would have just flown home from LAX, but if there’s a chance we can make this happen, I have to try. That’ll be Sunday of next week and assuming it happens, it’ll be a big milestone and quite a strong showing for dark pinup in the New Year of 2022. Thanks for reading!
