I’m home after a late night editing sessions at @caffetto. This was a long day. I started bright and early with Jimmy D of the Uplift doing a pitch podcast for my zine proposal for EOSIO on Pomelo. A few hours later, I joined the EOS fireside chat to pitch there, again. Things went well and I got some positive feedback from the community. The proposal is getting funded, so we’ll see where this shakes out. Years ago, I wanted to do a Hive comic using the work proposal system but at the time, it seemed that most of the community only considered dev work as appropriate for that kind of funding. Maybe one day.
So, if you’re curious what tonight’s new photography is, let’s change subjects and get to that. In January I was finally reunited with my friend Manku Geal. She drove down to Los Angeles from NorthCal and met me at the historic Gables estate. I’d met Manku a few years earlier when we both happened to be at Monsterpalooza together. Also a Leo, she and I immediately hit it off. Both in the industry, both horror and fetish fanatics, both goths. We actively started making plans for a collaboration together and then, of course, COVID disrupted our ambitions.
I mentioned this in the last few posts I’ve done from shoots during the beginning of this years. These are all part of reclaiming those lost years. Deferred, maybe, but it does feel like a stubborn achievement to know that we still made them happen. Manku is an outstanding model and as much as I’m loving these images, I think we’ve yet to hit the pinnacle of our creative energy together. I’m going to reach out to her about setting up another shoot later this year in Los Angeles. She’s just so good, I want another chance at making timeless, haunting images.
There is probably one more set of these photos with Manku that’ll still be edited and shared here on Hive. From that point, I’m going to focus my energy on setting up the next collaboration with her, hopefully before the end of the year. For the rest of tonight, as I’m winding down, I’m going to start working on @mirrorpool stuff. The first project
@swarddraws and I are pushing through is infectious and so fun. It’s the highlight of my creative day and I can’t stay away. For now, thanks for reading and have a good night.
