Finishing overdue work w/ Violet!

It’s a rainy Memorial Day here in Minneapolis. @vermillionfox, @guthrie and myself have been shifting our attention during the @caffetto remodel. One of the original employees is rearranging the coffee shop, adding furniture and moving all that remains. It looks great, but as a creature of habit, it’s disrupting a routine I was eager to return to. I did have a chance to play and crush @dartstrife in Magic: The Gathering. A week away from my favorite game with friends, it was nice to dish out punishment like I hadn’t missed a beat.

I woke up early this morning, feeling refreshed after sleeping in my own bed. I laid there awake for a bit, seeing this as an opportunity to get a head start on the holiday. I got dressed and made my way to @caffetto after a brief stop to visit @boxcar. As I’ve mentioned countless times here on Steemit, I’m endlessly behind on edits. This felt like a good chance to start a schedule of catching up on that backlog of photography. The first client I had to spend time with is Denver based pinup, Violet June.

The reason Violet required so much urgency is because she has been owed the last few edits of her shoot since Viva Las Vegas. Not Viva this past April […I wish that was the case], buy from Viva Las Vegas in April of 2018. Over a year. One of the pitfalls of Violet’s sweet, patient demeanor is that she never asked for her images. Much of the last year for me as an artist, has been putting out small fires and doing damage control. Violet is so darling, that the noisiest clients tended to get my attention first. Not fair, but that’s honest reasoning.

Right before I left for this east coast trip, I stumbled in to the folder of edits I’d already finished of Violet. I realized she was still owed four images from our shoot and I made a mental note right then that she’d be the first client to get priority, regardless of how busy or stressed I am. I began working on them during small breaks of free time on the trip, as I’m happy to say, as of this morning, I was able to finish the last of what was owed to one of the most patient clients I could ask for.

I sent these final photos of Violet this morning. It was an enormous weight lifted from my shoulders. She loved them and I was able to look ahead at the other work I’ll be able to get to this week. I genuinely hope there will be an opportunity for Violet and I to work together again. She’s beautiful, talented and having the chance to work on these photos again reminds me of how much I loved this shoot. Thanks for reading. For more photography, follow me here!
