Encore w/ Amelia!

Hi, Steemit! What a day. @guthrie and I had some serious bro time. He had an appointment during the afternoon and his scheduled visit was cancelled, so we shared a lunch at Gorkha Palace together. @vermillionfox was at work early, then spent the evening playing board games with @jthiessen. @guthrie and I got some work done at @caffetto, came home, FaceTimed with his Mimi, @bonni, and after he went to bed, I caught up with @bryanpolitte with a late night visit. I’m finally in bed, winding down. Hoping to capitalize on this last hour or two of writing time before I lose energy.

I was able to finish a few photos tonight. Most of my evening at @caffetto was spent sorting and correcting distortion for several sets I’ll be trying to finish over the weekend and early next week. It was kind of jarring to select and edit a real person after a few days of working with the abstract ink photography. These photos are of a client I shot in LA last year. Her name is Amelia and she’d been featured several times in previous Steemit blogs I’ve done over the last few months. She contacted me and ordered another three edits, so I had an unexpected change to share just a few more from our shoot.

I remember the light during this day was some of the best I’d had the pleasure of working with at the Gable estate in Pasadena. Window light is always good, but at times, there’s a rare fifteen minutes or so that it pours through the bay window on the west wing of the mansion. This was one of the times I was lucky enough to catch it. The rest of the shoot, we worked with lamps both in the main atrium of the house, and in the study just as the sun was finally setting. Amelia was a first time model, but took such great direction, I felt like we couldn’t miss. It was so easy to choose another three edits.

So, this should be it. I hope you all enjoyed this little unexpected post credits blog from one of my favorite shoots of the year. I do hope I have the opportunity to work with Amelia again in the future. She’s told me she’ll be hiring me again, so I hope we can all look forward to that collaboration. I’m going to try and get some writing in before my eyes begin in to close involuntarily. Thanks for reading and supporting my blog.
