What’s up, Hive? I’m coming in with an earlier blogpost than usual. 
Viva Las Vegas has come and gone, and I got more than just COVID. Some great memories with some close friends for my first Rockabilly Weekend in two years. I was able to shoot with my longtime friend and fellow photography colleague, Ana! She and I have been hosting an event called Ladies First for six years […with the caveat that two of those six years were spent in quarantine, so they don’t apply]. Ana wanted to shoot so we set some time aside during the evening and set up some wild lighting for what became something of a fetish Velma shoot.
Although my dear friend Cindy wasn’t able to make it to Viva this year, I did see her in January, however. She had a rough 2021, like many of us. We’ve shot together many times and I wanted this to be special since we missed each other the entire year prior. I booked us a cute room at The Culver Hotel in Culver City, CA. Pricey, but worth it. She and I went to our favorite hair and make-up artist, Analisa to get ready for the shoot. This was one of our most memorable. Everything came together and she found her confidence with a beautiful space and gown.
Lastly, going back to Viva Las Vegas from just a couple of weeks ago, I met my Minnesota friend and collaborator, Farah, of Lovely Organic Apothecary. She and our friend Cooper came to Vegas for the Rockabilly Weekend. My schedule was more or less just two events that I was the guest photographer for, so one Saturday evening, I met them both at The Artisan hotel and we shot throughout the lobby and near the swimming pool. A perfectly goth portrait capturing my beautiful, spooky friend in a venue that holds so much history for me and my career.
