What’s up, Hive? I just got back home. Time to sit and write for the nightly blog post. Before I left 
Tonight I dug in to a shoot from Dallas, TX, just over a week ago. One of my longtime internet friends and I were set to finally meet, and shoot. Sally Sidequest, Twitch sensation! www.twitch.tv/sallysidequest She’s also a world renown vintage nylon stocking model, and all around amazing, multidimensional woman. We talked about meeting and shooting together all the way back in 2020 during my first trip to Texas. We didn’t have enough time to make the spontaneous collaboration happen, and of course, with COVID one month later, it would be a while before we could.
That’s been the theme of 2022 for me so far. Making up missed opportunities from before the pandemic. I feel like I was able to do that in January during my trip to LA and Vegas. This opportunity to shoot with Sally was yet another personal victory of the obstacles that kept us apart for so long. We shot at a cute hotel I booked for the night. I can’t stand burning rooms and this had a unique vibe with exposed concrete and a very Texas decor. I was able to pull off some great lighting with just a few lamps.
These photos, so far, are my favorites from the trip to Texas. I hit Dallas, San Antonio and Austin in the same trip. Looking back on it, I think that was the perfect first shoot at my destination because it filled me with optimism and creative energy. Everything I shot after this was great, but the momentum definitely began with this first shoot with Sally. I’ll have another set of these photos soon. It was a short shoot, but a high rate of successful images based on my initial review of the files tonight!
