It was an awful day to ride, even at the lowest gear I was virtually standing still as I battled my way into the streets headwind. Wasn't so bad once I left the suburb and made my way through the surrounding hills heading towards my familiar Reservoir. Just being outdoors on my bike is always enjoyable.

Being in the middle of a long weekend (Public Holiday: Labour Day) there a lot of people outdoors. Didn't see many cyclists but quite a few hikers. Due to how bad the wind was I didn't tackle the Summit Hill but stayed on the Valley floor.

This s a huge difference, going from a 3x7 gears to 1x9. It just makes sense. It is far more efficient, you really didn't use all those gears on the 3x7. I need to drop the front chainring down a size as tackling those hill climbs would make it easier for me (need to research this to see if I could do this myself).

Like I said earlier, it was tough going but well worth it. The times are bad but my anaerobic, fat burning times are great, and that is all that matters.
