Greetings People!๐
I'm a very big fan of sports, even though I don't know how to play other than supporting my fans with cheers and water. Although football is the major one when it comes to preference but I don't joke with others such as swimming, running, high & long jumps, racing... in a summary, all track and field events. This is why I fancy tournaments like the Olympics and world sporting events.
In all these, there's one particular sport I find so uninteresting even though it's one of the most talked-about sports, and that's BOXING
I listen to a radio program on sports almost every day, and whenever it comes to boxing, my body system just goes down with and my mouth dissing out series of hiss.
And funny enough, this boxing sport has a good number of high-profile world representatives from Nigeria.
Why I don't like boxing
- Fight separation
This is one of the major reasons I dislike boxing. Boxing is a fight, and I don't see any reason why a referee should be separating the two opponents and begging them to stop and take a break.
I know it's the rule of the game, but it doesn't just make sense to me; it should have been better if they're allowed to fight till their satisfaction, possibly to the point when one is rushed to the hospital๐ค.
You see how Wrestling do their own thing? That's exactly how it should have been with BOXING regarding to the fighting pattern: a referee should only get involved when it's time to declare the winner.
Although wrestling is half scripted
The only time I tend to watch a boxing match and enjoys it, is when it's totally scripted, and that can be a scene in American, Chinese, or Korean movies. In these movies, the referee steps aside as it's supposed to be done in real life, and allows the opponents to fight until their faces are fully disfigured.
- No direct punch
The fact that these people are restricted from giving unconditional blows makes it uninteresting too. It's a fight, and the winner is going home with something big, so they should take the blow because it's worth it.
It doesn't look catchy at all when an opponent is checking for the spot to blow before releasing the hit; it makes it so dull to call it a fighting game.
- The frequent breaks
The Every five minutes break makes it look like a lazy man's game.
You'll see them fight for just five minutes, and the next thing would be a break with their PA(Personal Assistant) or their girlfriend towelling their bodies.
The value of money, talks, and fame attached to this game makes me wonder always especially with the way people trip to watch the game on a regular basis. Indeed, one man's food is another man's poison.
Oftentimes, news of Nigerian boxers does take the internet, and I try as much as possible to be carried along with such news, but I always end up not being freaked out.
I heard about the latest Adesenya, eyah๐
Thanks for reading.
