Finish the Tale. Story #88:The Day the World Forgot Blue/El día en que el mundo olvidó el azul (Es-En)
English version
By sunrise, nobody could remember what blue looked like.
Many might expect a longer story, with all the details of how it happened, but it simply happened that way. The more skeptical might ask: how could people not look at the sky and notice something strange?
The truth is, I don’t know. I only know that the sky was still there, the sea was still there, but everyone referred to them as if they had always been gray. They said “the sky,” “the sea,” but the word blue never crossed their lips. Some frowned and murmured that something was missing, but a second later they forgot. Everyone went on with their day as if nothing had changed. Well, almost everyone.
A few of us could notice that something was not normal, but only a very few of us managed to understand what had happened, and by “very few” I mean me.
For weeks I tried to remember. I asked the neighbors, “What color is the sky?” “The one it has always been,” they answered. I drew a sky I could not name and felt as if I were missing a word in my mouth. Everyone said I had gone crazy, and for a while I believed it too; but the idea that something was not right would not leave my head.
Some time later, while I was cleaning the attic, I found an old book. It was a little dusty, with a leather cover and strange letters that, for some reason, I could understand. It was open, as if someone had left it on that exact page. Curiosity led me to leaf through it. It was full of ancient legends, but something left me frozen: a story told how, many millennia ago, one of the Seven disappeared, the Great Red, and only a young man understood. He was the chosen one to bring him back.
And now it’s my turn.
Determined, I set out on a long journey to the origin, the place where the Seven Greats were born. After two months of traveling and many obstacles, I arrived. It was not easy: a storm left me without supplies, I lost my way in a desert of stone, and there was one night when I was about to give up. But in the end I arrived. And there was nothing...
Everything was lost: the Great Blue would not return. I had failed. At least only I knew it. But suddenly a light began to shine and I was submerged in it. It was a tangible brightness. My eyes were blinded for a few minutes, and when I finally recovered my sight, I could not believe where I was: it was an indescribable place. Great pillars rose around me, and a ceiling of gold with precious stones embedded like stars covered the entire visible sky. At last, there they were: I could see the Seven Greats, but the Great Blue seemed to be dying; his form was barely distinguishable. I did not understand what I was supposed to do, but among so much looking I could make out an inscription on one of the pillars. The letters were strange and unknown, like those in the book, but for some reason the instruction was clear: death is necessary for a new life to rise.
Well, there I was, determined to do what any hero of legend would have done in my place...
Nooo, my mom woke me up at that moment because I was going to be late for school hahahaha.

Y ahora me toca a mí.
Y no había nada...
