Self-Improvement: Don't be too comfortable with your current state.
The wise folks say that 'No Man is an island' and that statement makes more sense the more you associate with people.
It gets even better if you are lucky enough to be surrounded by people who are kind, empathetic and truthful. The experience you will have while being surrounded by people like that, assuming you are not nihilistic or narcissistic, will make you see the best side of humanity.
Humans are amazing creatures, you know?
It almost feels like I can't say enough about how amazing it feels to be surrounded by decent humans. I've had my fair share of experience with people and it's always nice to connect with people online or offline.
I think I've done a gone job of having decent people within my circle within the last couple of years. I'm surrounded by people who want me to be the best I can be and I also push them to try and be the best version of themselves.
Have you ever thought of why it's important to try and improve yourself?
Here is what I think;
There is an ever-present human tendency towards envy and resentment. We all have it in us and these things can blow out of proportion if we don't try to have them in check. This is why I see Self-improvement as a heroic endeavour. Making effort to improve ourselves can help you to make sure that you won't let envy or resentment take over your being.
Well, those who take the whole 'I love myself the way I am' narrative and push it to an extreme are usually the type that won't make effort to improve anything about themselves and when they see that the rest of the world is moving forward while they are stuck in the same place for a couple of years, they will start to get envious and resentful.
Add irresponsibility to that and you will have someone who blames others for their stagnancy... A complete mess.
People like that are always out to cause mayhem and it wouldn't take a lot of provocation for them to start being envious of those who have made significant improvements in their own life. It's a bad road to go down because these sorts of negative emotions will crush someone like that and make them toxic to be around.
I assume you wouldn't want to be that person. You also wouldn't want to be around people who envy your success. This is why you have to work on improving yourself in all aspects of your life. Don't be too comfortable with the current life you are living. Also, don't allow those around you to be too comfortable with the baggage of bad habits they have. If they don't improve themselves over a long period, chances are; they will become envious of your success.
Sure, no man is an island. Just make sure you are around people who strive to be better in all aspects of their life. It goes without saying that you can't afford to ignore your own baggage of bad habits. Clean them up and be a better you.
