Happy Friday Hivers!
I remember when my mother used to run a small canteen at school. I could really see how good she was at dealing with customers. She knew how to entertain them and make them feel welcome. However, whenever she visited another store and noticed that the staff didn't know how to treat their customers properly, she would always tell us, "They shouldn't be running a business if they don't know how to deal with customers." That was one of her usual comments.

Well, last month, my mother suggested that we buy a basket because she preferred using one to carry the vegetables whenever we harvested from our garden. I liked the idea too, so I agreed. We started looking for a store that sold baskets. However, the baskets in the other stores were quite small, which eventually led us to this particular store.
At first, the saleslady seemed friendly when we approached her. While my mother and I were looking around, we spotted a basket placed in a corner. We liked its style and the material it was made of because it looked more durable. So, I asked the saleslady if we could take a closer look at it and pointed to where it was placed.
To our surprise, she immediately discouraged us from getting it. She kept saying that it was already dusty, but we told her that we could simply wipe it clean and wash it. We were even the ones suggesting ways to clean it just to convince her to take it down for us. Then, she gave another reason, saying that it would be difficult to reach. Still, she didn't even try to find a way to get it for us.
In the end, my mother simply said, "Let's not force it. We'll just look for another style."
I don't know if I'm the only one who gets annoyed whenever I encounter a saleslady with poor customer service. For me, when you run a business or you're a saleslady of course, you're looking for customers. So when someone finally comes into your store, why not treat them properly and make them feel welcome?
Anyway, we ended up buying a basket with a different style. We still bought it from the same store despite what the saleslady had told us because my mother was already tired of looking for another shop, especially since her knees were bothering her.
Well, at least we didn't go home empty-handed, and we got the basket we needed. However, this experience reminded me that good customer service really matters. Sometimes, it's not just about the products you're selling but also how you treat the people who come to buy in your store.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
