Blog #216: My First Visit to Aliyah's Restobar in San Jose, Negros Oriental
Happy Saturday Hivers!
It was a scorching hot day, I had no plan of going out because I know if I would directly exposed to the hot weather I would definitely end up feeling dizzy and sick. The only thing I had in mind that time was to spend my time in my room and I'll just do my online stuffs; read hive blogs; and write a blog too. However; everything was changed in a hearbeat.
"Wanna go with me? I'll be heading to Tanjay."
How can I refuse to this invite. It's tempting for someone like me but I weighed things first because it was too hot outside. I was absolutely skeptical if I'll go with her.
But I was the luckiest human in the universe that time, the weather helped me to decide. The weather in the Philippines is so unpredictable, though the sun is brightly shining and the sky is very clear but it won't give you guarantee that it won't rain. It would definitely change in just a snap of a finger.
Well, I immediately grabbed my bath towel and quickly took a shower after I've noticed that the blue sky has suddenly turned into cloudy.
After we had spent a little of our time in Tanjay, Negros Oriental, we headed to the mountainous part of San Jose. San Jose is a neighboring town of Dumaguete City and it is one of the beautiful towns in Negros Oriental.
I was captivated by a jaw-dropping scenery as we had reached Aliyah's Restobar. It is one of the most visited spots in San Jose.
It was my friend's idea to visit this place (it's always her idea actually because she already have visited most of the spots here).
After I enjoyed the scenery, I have noticed the small native store built beside the road. We went there for some refreshments. My friend told me that this store sells a scrumptious "Bico" (Filipino sticky rice cake). I was excited to taste their bico because it is one of my favorites.
I have noticed that no one was around as we arrived, but we heard a loud voice shouted that she was coming. And as we turned our heads, we saw a lady who walked briskly towards the store.
While waiting for her to arrive, I saw bukos at the store. Buko is one of the Filipino's favorite refreshments, so don't get surprised if you could see many street vendors selling buko once you will get a chance to visit Philippines. I ordered one buko since the vendor proudly told us that she was selling buko with very sweet juice. Hmmmm, was it just her marketing strategy or she really told us the truth? Let's find it later.
My friend voluntered herself to open the buko. The vendor felt awkward because she doesn't want her customer to do such thing but my friend insisted to open it by herself. She told us that she is good at it, well, let's see.
While watching her, I was scared that she might get wounded, she complained that the bolo knife was dull but she still continued to open the buko until she successfully opened it.
Although she was not able to open it perfectly like a pro but I admired her for having a quality of perseverance, a quality that is essential to our lives in order for us to survive when we encountered adversities.
After I'd tasted the buko juice, I truly agree with the buko vendor, her statement was not merely a marketing strategy but a true statement that she was selling a buko with sweet juice.
We brought the buko and the biko at the restaurant located on top of a hill. I found out that the native store beside the road is also owned by Aliyah's restobar.
While hiking going above, I was truly enteratained by this wonderdul scenery.
My friend ordered her favorite cup of coffee as we arrived at the dining area and while waiting, we spent our time eating; talking; and taking photos around. And oh, the taste of the bico was yummy. It's not too sweet, that's what I really like. I'm sorry sweet lovers.
That's my story on that one fine afternoon that out of the blue I was able visit at Aliyah's Restobar.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
