THE JOURNEY OF A WRITER IS SO PAINFUL π₯π€
ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU AREN'T MAKING ANY MONEY OUT OF ITπ
They said you would make 6 figures but now you just feel they lied to you.
Your only question now is "Where is my money hiding?
I won't lie to you
P.s This is solely on experience.
While still a web2 Copywriter, I had been on Upwork for months and sent a lot of proposals but no one saw or replied any of them.
And then I read a book and it got me thinking
"If I was an employer, would I employ myself?"
The answer was No!
My profile looked shabby and confused.
I was just desperate to get a job.
That's the problem most of us are having.
You are too concerned about getting a job that you have forgotten to brush the rough edges of your portfolio.
Well that's where your money is
Your money is hiding in your PORTFOLIO.
The great part is that you can beautiful your portfolio and chase your money out of its hideout even when you have little experience.
Be sincere to yourself.
Modify your portfolio to your employer's taste in all honesty.
As a writer, immediately you saw a topic you wanted to write on, you realise that ideas began to run through your mind.
You tagged them as random ideas and discarded them.
But unfortunately that's why your good money kept hiding.
There's something about the first draft.
There's something about the very first idea you have on any given topic.
That idea reaches into your creativity even when you haven't done any research.
There is money in that first idea that many of us discard as random.
So instead write it down.
Write down every single idea.
Don't edit it while writing
Just go on and release what's inside of you.
Then later you go on to research, modify and edit and you will realise that the original idea of yours was just what would make your money come in a juicy way
Your money has been hiding in your IDEAS
The biggest problem any writer could face is lack of direction or lack of a Niche.
That was my problem for a while.
My niche-lessness made me so confused that I was just taking up everything and didn't know exactly what I wanted.
It was hard till I sat and examined my passion
Till I found my niche.
And that's where the breakthrough came.
Have you ever examined the six figure writers?
They all have a specific niche and that's where their big money comes from.
Your money hides in YOUR NICHE
Should I keep going?
Well I will because I don't want to hide anything from you
Your money hides in YOUR RESEARCH
After making your first draft, I mentioned research.
Research helps you discover the unknown and people love to read what says the unknown
The better the research, the more effective your writing, the better you will be paid.
Research better and your money will be bigger π
And then ofcourse this is very important
YOUR MONEY HIDES IN YOUR APPROACH
Your Approach to employers, your approach to the work when you get it, your time-management approach, your consistency approach, your approach to like-minds
They can never take you seriously if you Approach them shabbily.
So take a good look at your proposal or that message you wanted to send to a dev
Does it communicate your potentials without big words?
Does it give a good impression on your personality or work ethics?
Your approach always matters
Now above all
Your money is hiding in the value you refused to put out there.
That's why I am not afraid to spread so much value to you
Keep spreading value till your 6 figures has no where else to hide.
That's where I will wrap it up for today
Hope you learnt a great deal.
I shared this as a thread on Twitter and decided ro share it here as well.
Hope you learnt a great deal.
