It almost felt inevitableover the last week, and especially since Germany also was taking measures. Yesterday a day earlier to the normal biweekly pressconference the prime minister of Holland, Mark Rutte, announced that we are back on lockdown for at least five weeks. That means it will also be pulled over Christmas and New Years. A big message, but one I certainly agree with.

With the numbers of Covid transmissions going up over the last couple of weeks to me it felt like we were letting go again of the situation. I am happy action is taking place, but it does really for a lot of people that it is around holiday season. But ofcourse..that is especially the reason why we are doing this.
Over the last couple of weeks with Blac Friday and the holiday shopping it looked more like carnival than a country in a soft lockdown. I guess Dutchies aren't too good in following 'advises' but they actually need rules. These rules are clearer. And yes...it does suck it also involves kids not going to school again, because the process for kids is really difficult this year, and I do wonder what the long term effects of this are.

But ofcourse it is for the end goal and the end goal means that the healthcare system isn't collapsing. If you go to your doctor new with something non urgent, there is a good chance that the waiting list for you to be treated will go up untill months for you treatment. By that time that benign small mole can have turned into a malignant one. That is the issue. And the people who are not understanding this are probably the ones who don have something around them in need of a treatment.
Yes it it busy in the hospital and we will work that all through, but some day it does have to get less busy for it all to keep functioning. That is what the lockdown is for. Not to play games with you. Nobody likes hanging around at home and not meeting up with anyone or not being able to go places to buy stuff.
Honestly I have an easy word in this, because my job continues as normal in the hospital and hubby works from home but still is on the job. So for us the week is filled in a normal way. The dog hoovers around, and we can still buy our groceries.
Yes that is a different perspective than a lot of other people have who are currently without jobs, I realize that very well. But I also degree from my medical view with these measures because of the long term effects on covid slumbering amongst us. Years of half ass measures will also not do the trick.
So lets suck it up and stick together with a positive look on it all. In a year the world will look totally different again. I will patiently wait from here for that moment.
