ENG/ESP Earrings with leaf motif. / Aretes con motivo de hojas.

I love the color green and the reason is simple: it connects me with nature. Green inspires me, makes me breathe deeper and it must be because my mind associates it with vegetation. I think we all feel a little stronger, braver, happier, when we are in a natural environment, where the air is cleaner thanks to the surrounding vegetation.

Amo el color verde y la razón es sencilla: me conecta con la naturaleza. El verde me inspira, me hace respirar más profundo y ha de ser porque mi mente lo asocia con la vegetación. Creo que todos nos sentimos un poco más fuertes, más valientes, más felices, cuando estamos en un ambiente natural, dónde el aire es más limpio gracias a la vegetación del entorno.

When I was a teenager I used to go fishing with my older brother and some friends from church. I didn't really fish at all, I just had to sit quietly next to them while they put in and took out their fishing rods most of the time with nothing on the hook. But for me it was a delight to sit under the shade of the trees and watch the rays of sunlight filtering through the dense vegetation, the sound of the branches moved by the wind and the leaves falling in a peculiar dance of twists and turns until they reached the ground. It was time to take a dip in the river and that was the icing on the cake. I think that's where my passion for the green of nature comes from.

En mi adolescencia solía ir de pesca con mi hermano mayor y algunos amigos de la iglesia. En realidad yo no pescaba nada, solo tenía que sentarme en silencio al lado de ellos mientras ellos metían y sacaban sus cañas de pescar la mayor parte del tiempo sin nada en el anzuelo. Pero para mí era todo un deleite sentarme bajo la sombra de los árboles y mirar los rayos de sol que se filtraban entre la tupida vegetación, el sonido de las ramas movidas por el viento y las hojas que caían en una peculiar danza de giros hasta llegar al suelo. Llegaba el momento de darnos el chapuzón en el río y era la cereza del pastel. Creo que de allí viene mi pasión por el verde de la naturaleza.

These moments came to mind as I was looking for inspiration for my project. I thought it would be easier to find some inspiration, and it helped to ask myself where my taste for green comes from. Think of trees and you'll see all green. My inspiration was immediately sparked and I set out to crochet a pair of leaf-shaped earrings.

Estos momentos los recordaba mientras buscaba inspiración para realizar mi proyecto. Pensé que sería más fácil encontrar algo de inspiración, y me ayudó preguntarme de dónde viene mi gusto por el verde. Piensa en árboles y verás todo verde. De inmediato se despertó mi inspiración y me dispuse a realizar un par de aretes en forma de hojas a crochet.

I learned to make a different pattern of leaves and I think they look great because it makes them look fuller without the need to make them filled or doubled. We start with a chain of 15 stitches and a single crochet, leaving a stitch in the middle, then a double crochet and a single crochet.

Aprendí a realizar un modelo diferente de hojas y me parecen estupendas porque le hace parecer con mayor volumen sin necesidad de hacerlas rellenas o dobles. Empezamos con una cadena de 15 puntos y un punto bajo dejando un punto por el medio, luego un punto medio alto y un punto alto.

On the last high stitch, we make four loops and close them together. This will form a kind of roll. We leave a stitch in the middle and repeat the stitch of the four loops closed together. We do this three times and in the fourth pattern we are only going to change the high stitch place, we are going to make the loops over a double high stitch, this will give a slight oval shape to the leaf. We repeat the last pattern with a single crochet and in the last stitch we knit three single crochets.

Sobre el último punto alto, realizamos cuatro lazadas y las cerramos juntas. Esto va a formar una especie de rollito. Dejamos un punto por el medio y repetimos el punto de las cuatro lazadas cerradas juntas. Esto lo hacemos tres veces y en el cuarto patrón solo vamos a cambiar el lugar de punto alto, vamos a realizar las lazadas sobre un punto alto doble, esto le dará una ligera forma ovalada a la hoja. Repetimos el último patrón con un punto alto y en el último punto realizamos tres puntos bajos.

We continue knitting on the other side of the base chain, using the stitches we have knitted on one side of the leaf as a guide. We close in a slip stitch.

Seguimos tejiendo del otro lado de la cadena base teniendo como guía los puntos que hemos realizado de un lado de la hoja. Cerramos en un punto deslizado.

I made the veins of the leaves with green beads a much lighter shade than the thread. I placed a crystal at the base of the leaf, assembled a ring with beads and then placed a golden ring and the hook.

Realicé las nervaduras de las hojas con mostacillas verdes un tono mucho más claro que el del hilo. Coloque un cristal en la base de la hoja, armé una argolla con mostacillas y luego coloqué una argolla dorada y el anzuelo.
