Hello, Hive community! How’s everyone doing? Everything’s great over here—I’m happy to be back with you all to share a new jewelry-making tutorial, after quite a while away from the community because, as you know, I’ve been pretty busy at home with various projects.

Today we’re going to get to work on some beautiful earrings that combine vibrant red with gold—a super elegant design with a classic yet modern touch, thanks to the dangling chain detail. Best of all, they’re very easy to make and look spectacular for any occasion. So keep reading to learn how to make these cute chain-style stud earrings.

Como saben, estos coralitos tubulares son de mis favoritos, y en estos días mientras ordenaba algunas cosas en casa, me dediqué un rato a organizar mis materiales de bisutería y se encendió mi llama creativa, y como ahora me están gustando mucho los aretes largos (pero delicados), se me ocurrió combinar los coralitos con separadores dorados planos, y para darles un poco de movimiento, decidí agregarles un tramo de cadena que además los hace lucir mucho más delicados.

Este es un proyecto ideal tanto si estás comenzando en el mundo de la bisutería, ya que la verdad es sumamente sencillo de realizar, como si ya tienes tiempo en él, porque será realmente un paseo y sumarás una nueva pieza a tu colección. Así que busca tus pinzas y acompáñame!

As you know, these little tubular beads are some of my favorites, and the other day, while I was tidying up around the house, I spent some time organizing my jewelry-making supplies, and my creative spark was ignited. Since I’ve been really into long (but delicate) earrings lately, I came up with the idea of combining the coral beads with flat gold spacers, and to give them a little movement, I decided to add a section of chain, which also makes them look much more delicate.

This is an ideal project whether you’re just starting out in the world of jewelry making—since it’s actually extremely simple to make—or if you’ve been at it for a while, because it’ll be a breeze and you’ll add a new piece to your collection. So grab your pliers and join me!

Paso a paso / Step by step

Para comenzar a darle forma a nuestros aretes de barra con cadenas, lo primero que haremos será armar la pieza principal en forma de barra, y para esto, tomamos un alfiler de ojo y hacemos pasar por él de forma intercalada un coralito tubular y un separador dorado plano. Repetimos este patrón hasta tener un total de 6 corales en el alfiler.

To begin shaping our bar earrings with chains, the first thing we’ll do is assemble the main bar-shaped piece. To do this, we take an eye pin and thread a tubular coral bead and a flat gold spacer onto it in an alternating pattern. We repeat this pattern until we have a total of 6 coral beads on the pin.

Una vez que completamos el patrón de corales y separadores, es momento de cerrar el otro extremo del alfiler, y para esto, con ayuda de la tenaza cortamos el excedente de alambre si es necesario, y usando la pinza redonda giramos la punta sobre sí misma para formar un ojo mucho más pequeño que el que ya trae el alfiler. Luego, con la pinza plana cerramos bien y nivelamos ambos aros para asegurarnos de que queden alineados en la misma dirección. Repetimos exactamente el mismo proceso con el segundo alfiler para tener listas las dos barras de nuestros aretes.

Once we’ve completed the pattern of corals and spacers, it’s time to close the other end of the pin. To do this, use the wire cutters to trim any excess wire if necessary, and then use the round-nose pliers to twist the tip around itself to form an eye much smaller than the one the pin already has. Next, use the flat-nose pliers to secure and level both loops, ensuring they’re aligned in the same direction. Repeat the exact same process with the second pin to complete the two bars for our earrings.

Con nuestras dos piezas principales terminadas, lo siguiente es colocar el detalle que marcará la diferencia y dará movimiento a nuestros aretes: la cadena. Y lo que haremos es tomar uno de los tramos de cadena dorada y, abrimos delicadamente el ojito más grande de la pieza de la barra de corales con la pinza redonda, enganchamos el primer eslabón de la cadena, y para terminar nuestra creación colocamos la base del arete.

Para esto, tomamos el topo con la bolita dorada, y lo hacemos pasar también por el ojito de la barra de corales y seguidamente cerramos muy bien con la pinza plana para que no se vaya a soltar y repetimos este procedimiento con el otro arete.

Now that our two main pieces are finished, the next step is to add the detail that will make all the difference and give our earrings some movement: the chain. What we’ll do is take one of the sections of gold chain, gently open the largest eyelet on the coral bar piece with the round-nose pliers, hook the first link of the chain through it, and to finish our creation, attach the earring base.

To do this, take the top with the little gold ball, thread it through the small loop on the coral bar as well, and then secure it tightly with the flat-nose pliers so it won’t come loose. Repeat this process with the other earring.

Y de esta forma ya tenemos listos un par de aretes muy lindos, llenos de movimiento y con un brillo hermoso gracias al contraste del rojo y el dorado.
