Midnight vitals.Pre op checks.A new life is just hours away.
It is midnight. The ward is quiet but the work is not.
In this room a Caesarean is being planned. Not an emergency. Not a rush. But it is scheduled.Everyone is moving with purpose even at this hour.
The picture shows the monitor.A Life Scope machine next to an empty bed.The numbers are on.Heart rate 87.Blood pressure 110 over 76.Oxygen 98.The lines are moving.
That means someone is being watched.
That means the team is doing pre op work up right now.
Pre op is not glamorous. It is blood tests. Consent forms.Checking allergies.Noting last meal time.
It is an anesthetist asking questions again and again. It is a nurse putting on the BP cuff and pulse probe.Staring at the screenIt is the surgeon reviewing the file one more time at midnight.Sleep can wait.
Monitoring does not stop. Before surgery starts, the body has to be stable. The baby has to be stable. The mother has to be stable.
That is why the monitor is on. That is why the IV pole is ready. That is why the wires are plugged in and coiled in the basket.
The framed verse on the wall says Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.Someone put that there for a reason. People read it while they wait.
Caesarean means planning. It means a team.A theater being cleaned.Instruments being counted. It means a family outside trying not to panic.Small steps that add up to one big moment.
Right now it is just numbers on a screen and a quiet room.In a few hours it will be a new life.
So we watch. We check. We prepare.Midnight is not the end.It is the beginning of the work.
