Strings of seaweed lay scattered across the sands, brought in by waves upon waves of rough ocean swell.
Vaithe poked her foot against a nearby clump of tangled weeds and stared out across the sea. The waves clashed against one another, each one larger than the next as they fought for dominance across the great expanse. She had never quite seen it like this before... it was so violent.
She narrowed her eyes.
Upon the horizon, poised atop a distant wave, a tiny boat leapt from the tip as the wave collapsed then landed on another as it began to rise. It navigated the churning sea with an almost impossible finesse and grace, in dance as it hopped from wave to wave and slowly crept closer to shore.
At this rate, in maybe an hour she would get to meet this master boatsman and his crew, and question them as to why they were sailing so close to this forgotten city that no one seemed to remember.
Would they even see the shattered remains? Perhaps the people had been magicked so they would no longer see it, think of it, remember it... perhaps, despite her curse, she was the only normal person left.
Helloooo! It's Day 1523 of @mariannewest's five minute #freewrite challenge and the prompt for today is -- seaweed.
You can find today's challenge -- AND JOIN IN!!!! -- behind these blue words!
This prompt kind of jumped out at me. Last night I spent an hour or so going through Book Two in my Forgotten Prophecy Series, just seeing what I had done, preparing to start writing some more and doing some edits. With any luck and motivation it'll be published next year. But -- Seaweed! When I saw the prompt, my brain zoomed to the world of my story.
This particular chapter is already written, roughly, but the thought of seaweed encouraged me to rewrite a certain passage... and it's changed quite a bit actually, I'll have to re-work it substantially but I think I can safely edit it in and flesh it out. 😊
Book Two of the Forgotten Prophecy? It's the sequel to Vengeance. Which will actually be available freeeee on Smashwords in a couple of days for their End of Year Sale. I'll let you know all about the sale details soon! 😊 Once it's actually up and running.
Vengeance was my baby, though it's really only a prologue. Book Three is the part that's been in my heart and mind since I was a kid, and Vengeance and this next one, Memories Unforgotten, are the lead-up to the part of the story I'm most excited to write.
Looking forward to getting this out there! 📚
Thank you for reading! ❤️
