I found a bird's nest while clearing a clump of bamboo in my yard. In the bird's nest, there were four eggs, and to my great regret, two of the four eggs broke prematurely because the nest fell from a height while pruning the bamboo branches.
The breaking of two eggs has taught a lesson that a person's life will be very successful if they have something from within themselves. This something is in the form of encouragement to achieve their success. If you agree, we will call this encouragement motivation.
It is true that we need encouragement from other people or support from outside ourselves in order to be successful. But if you don't have anything within yourself, then you are just like a broken-down car driven by someone else without a driving motor within yourself that can make you go faster.
Encouragement from within you is intrinsic. It is the same as a baby bird struggling to break its egg shell from the inside so that it can hatch to start its new life.
On the other hand, encouragement from other people or conditions outside yourself is extrinsic. Other people will never know when the right time is for you to succeed. It is the same as an egg breaking because it is hit or broken from the outside.
The fact is that someone who struggles to prepare themselves for success knows how and when. It would be different if someone's success was prepared by other people or the environment outside themselves. It is the baby birds inside the eggs who know how and when to break their own egg shells.
Or, in another example, you can think the same thing when you break chicken eggs in your kitchen to cook them into omelets, and there are many other chicken eggs that don't make it to your kitchen because they undergo the incubation process on the farm. The eggs in your kitchen will become omelettes, and the ones on the farm will become new chicks.
The power of motivation for success from within a person will be much longer-lasting and have stronger energy than motivation from outside. Intrinsic factors are much more powerful and longer-lasting than extrinsic factors that influence your success.
For an egg, if it breaks due to external forces, then that is the end of life for the egg. But if it breaks due to an internal force, then that is the beginning of the egg's life.
