molten
Hello! Happy Monday!
Here are the last two paintings from my pouring session last week. The first one above I named "molten". I think this one might be my favourite from the batch. I love how it looks like liquid fire. It's hard to see in the picture but some of the yellow spots look almost translucent, which reminds me of that effect with film burns.
Something to note about this painting is that normally when I do acrylic pours, I first paint the entire canvas one of the colours from the mix so that the liquid doesn't get sucked up by the canvas. But because I was dealing with smaller canvases this time around, I didn't paint it and left it the original white. I'm wondering if that's why the yellow came out a little translucent.
After the first two paintings, I added a bit of purple to this one to see if it would up the definition of colours a bit. It didn't really change much in this first one, but I think the more liquid feeling of this one makes the blending seem better than the last two. You can also see how little and soaked in the purple looks compared to the rest of the colours. There was less purple for sure, but the purple was not mixed with any glue or water to help it flow better.

And here is the last painting of the set. More purple this time and I really like it. Again, the purple doesn't stand out much because there's no flow medium added to it. But there's more of it and I think it does a good job of helping the other colours separate a bit.
I named this one "mars" because to me it looks like the surface of a planet. I find it really pleasing and easier on the eyes than some of the other paintings from this set.
I gifted my partner both of these paintings as a present for finishing her math class with a 96%! I'm so proud of her.
All in all, I think experimenting with new colours went really well for me. I really love the warm feeling of these recent paintings in time for summer and in general because I have been feeling really good lately. I think for my next acrylic pours I'm going to experiment with dragging the paint a bit with sticks and fingers to see what happens to the shape. I'm also going to try again to replicate the white mountain mass because for the life of me I can't figure out how I got that the first time around!
