Yes. When people are cut off at their prime, just at their point of breakthrough, then one could ask the question, "What is life?"

When a young man struggles through medical school, fail several times, repeated a few years and finally succeeds. Gets inducted and licensed as a medical doctor. And one week later he dies in a fatal accident.

When a parent put all their life savings in training their children, sell properties to see them through their different stages of life, have hope that they will redeem his or her lineage and they all end of becoming useless or all dead.

When you love a woman with everything within you, pay for her school fees, buy her phone, clothes and jewelries. Throw a party on her 24th Birthday, only to have a man from nowhere show up and propose to your woman and she says yes.

When you finally become wealthy, buy yourself houses, cars and everything you ever wanted but end up becoming depressed and unhappy.

When you support a brokeass nigga for years, you even provided him an accomodation at your place to have where to stay and pursue his dreams. And boom! Finally he makes it, that major breakthrough came, then he leaves you and start banging bigger ass women, then marries a village girl.

When a particular candidate wins an election but it's rigged and given to someone else. No people's mandate gets stolen and no one does anything about it.

When you work for a certain employer for a long time, who has shared his visions with you and promised you promotions and other good things. You've found a new family working with him and at your workplace, you've even trusted them with your life and gave your very best. And then one day, a little issue comes up that could be ignored but you end up being kicked out immediately. Everyone forgets about you and simply move on.

When they tell you to go to school so you get a job and escape poverty. But you end up graduating after 4-5 years of study and realize that there's no job. That you may have to go to another school again to increase your chances of getting a job, hahaha. How terrible and meaningless?

When you've been diagnosed of a critical health condition and your husband is broke and begs that you borrow him your money to save your own life but you lie and swear that you have no money and end up being dead before he could return looking for money. Fews days after your death, your husband realize that you had a few millions stacked in an account he had no idea about. He uses a fraction to give you a quiet unbefitting burial and use the remaining money to marry another woman and enjoy life with her. You're forgotten, everyone moves on.

Your three children were sent home because of school fees, they've been home for two weeks. After hustling and struggling, you finally managed to pay their fees and the return to school. The day they returned to school, a news came that the school building collapsed and killed school children, your children inclusive, all three gone, that's all you got. You've passed childbearing age, you feel there's nothing to live for again. You drink poison and die.

And it goes on and on, but let me pause here. Is life actually meaningless? No!

Are there moments and events that make life meaningless? Yes.

However, as long as we're alive everyday we give meaning to life. But some are just existing and not living and that's quite unfortunate. What is the essence of us living? That we make a difference in the world, a positive difference that is geared towards making the world better.

What is the essence of living without preparing for fate? But I don't believe in fate. I do not like the idea that people are not in control of their destinies. Actually, they are not because there is a God who is. Now, I'm not trying to sound religious but I believe in God and I believe in being responsible for life, especially the actions. So I believe that God first and man are the major determinants of one's destiny.

Finally, time remains the ultimate healer. It heals us of every process and events, but meaningful and meaningless.
