Universo indefinido (ejercicio poético en honor al pintor Yves Tanguy) (Esp | Eng)

Yves Tanguy, el pintor surrealista francés, quien falleciera el 15 de enero de 1955, llamó mi atención desde el primer momento que vi una de sus obras reproducidas en algún libro o revista, no recuerdo con exactitud ahora. Conocía a de Chirico, Dalí, Miró y otros, pero su pintura se me presentaba más inaccesible para la interpretación; sin embargo, me cautivaba. Esa suerte de extrañamiento ha permanecido, y hoy decidí volver a él.

Yves Tanguy, the French surrealist painter, who died on January 15, 1955, caught my attention from the first moment I saw one of his works reproduced in a book or magazine, I don't remember exactly now. I knew de Chirico, Dalí, Miró and others, but his painting seemed more inaccessible to me for interpretation; however, it captivated me. That kind of estrangement has remained, and today I decided to return to him.

Amoblado de imágenes impensables
el universo de Tanguy
nos confronta con la indeterminación
objetos que crean su realidad
en el cuadro, que es como decir
en el sueño        en lo increado
Se parecen a algo pero no lo son
       inciertos
              gratuitos
                      versátiles
son y no son
Sólo existen en nuestra mirada
interrogante
placenteramente ilógica
como su mundo
creado a su imagen y semejanza

Furnished with unthinkable images
Tanguy's universe
confronts us with indeterminacy
objects that create their reality
in the painting, which is like saying
in the dream        in the uncreated
They look like something but they are not
       uncertain
              gratuitous
                      versatile
they are and they are not
They only exist in our gaze
questioning
pleasantly illogical
like their world
created in their image and likeness
