Sketch vs. Improv

This is a song I wrote that describes the differences between sketch comedy and improv.

When you're talking your way out of a DUI, you're doing Improv
Write a funny Dear John letter, that is Sketch
If you have to explain you have a mistress Elaine, you're doing Improv
When you're writing the divorce papers, that is Sketch

It's a wonder why so many times they're mixed up and confused
But so what, as long as you're keeping them amused

When you're asked why the herpes test didn't lie, you might try Improv
If you're writing your best the IRS, that could be Sketch
If you pretend you have a cough cuz you were caught jerking off, you're doing Improv

It's been said so many times in prose and now in rhyme
They mix 'em up a lot, but one is scripted, one is not
If you're putting them on stage it'll fill you with rage

Cuz Sketch isn't Improv, Improv's not Sketch
