Summer is orange
Winter is blue,
And tonight
I am wandering
Without you—

The silver flash
of minnows
In the ocean
Above
Is inside me now.

Cold
Green apples
Bare
White flesh
On counters
In metal bowls,

And the Moon
Rises clear
And cold.

On a deserted beach
A demiurge
Forms
And flings
Snowball stars
Far out
Into the universe.

And now alone
On our street
With the shops
Dark and closed

I groan

Transfixed
By a memory
Never old…

The touch
Of your warm hand
When nights are cold.
