Since Chinese New Year is coming, my highschool bestfriend and I went to a spontenous Chinese food crawl in Chinatown last tuesday! We started late at around 4 in the afternoon and just googled famous Chinese restaurants around Chinatown. Lets start!
1. Ying Ying Tea House
Ying Ying Tea House is famous or known for its dimsum treats. One of which is my favorite dimsum known as hakaw. Looking at the picture, the upper right is the hakaw which cost only P80 per order (4 pieces) and siomai on the lower left which cost P70 pero order (4 pieces). We also ordered kutchay (though I wasn't able to take a picture) which cost P65 per order (3 pieces). The servers were very accommodating because they ask us if how was the food and if we need anything like chili or additional orders. And they do serve free hot tea for everyone! Our bill was just P305 so we only paid almost P150 each.
2. Sincerity Cafe & Restaurant
This was our next stop. It was just a 3-minute walk to go here from Ying Ying Tea House. Sincerity Cafe & Restaurant is known for their buttery chicken. Since we still have other places to go, we just ordered a cup of Sincerity fried rice and half serving of the Sincerity fried chicken (8 pieces). We also ordered a black gulaman which cost us for a total of P290. The chicken here is really one of the best fried chicken that I've tasted. The meat has its own flavor that you won't need to have a gravy or any condiment to compliment the taste of the chicken meat. We would love to try the oyster cake but we need to eat lightly on each stop so we'll just try it out next time.
3. Lan Zhou La Mien
The next space for our stomach was for noodles. So walking for about 4 minutes and we arrived at Lan Zhou La Mien. We just ordered one beef noodle soup which cost P160. We just shared the noodle soup in since the serving is good for 1-2 persons. I liked the noodles since you'll notice that it is an authentic one. The veggies are good too and so with the soup. The beef is well cooked and it's not chewy at all. I would love to go back here if I would be craving for a really good beef noodle soup.
4. Escolta Ice Cream & Snacks
Last Stop is for dessert! We were supposed to go to Cafe Mezzanine but unfortunately, they don't have 'Lava Pao' during the time when we arrived there so we looked for another dessert place and we went here at Escolta Ice Cream & Snacks! We ordered a Peach Melba Delight which cost P150. It's similar to Banana split except for the ice cream flavors and the fruit itself. Peach Melba Delight has chocolate, vanilla and strawberry as ice cream flavors. Its ice cream was made by Big Scoop which is known for their assorted ice cream flavors. It is also served with whipped cream and cherry on top. The taste of it was good and I would love to try other flavors of ice cream too, next time.
We were supposed to have another stop which is the Dong Bei Dumplings to try out their Xiao Long Bao! But upon arriving there, they were already closed so we opted to go for dessert right after the three stops. Anyway, we can still have it for our next food crawl!
