Wednesday Walk Touring Through Familiarity

Warming up in the winter early morning sun, waiting for the seeds to be delivered (do let you know when you late) to the feeder are Pin-tailed Whydah (Vidua macroura) birds. Male has changed from his brilliant mating dance plumage to more subdued look alike of the ladies he chased all last year, or it could be two ladies morning natter.

Around the corner, quietly unfurling into full beauty, large white funnel shaped flower of the Arum-lily (Zantedeschia aethiopica) a native species to southern African, I am sure is enjoyed worldwide in floral bouquets.

Pink Joy (Crassula ovata) dripping fresh in the morning dew displaying exquisite beauty before the warm sun arrives.

Walks happen regularly throughout the day, simply not having to be masked up, one no longer laments seeking adventure within the confines of ones garden . This keeps me totally satisfied watching change happen, listening with impunity to ideas of "covid passports" possibly not allowing one into shops for alcoholic beverages or travel over borders without it, man made rules/borders?

Array of smaller life withing the confines, all going about daily living.

African or Buff-bellied Penduline-Tit (Anthoscopus caroli) relaxed watching me pass by, soon the replaced by the Laughing Dove (Spilopelia senegalensis), trees are like a highway with birds coming and going all the time. Source

Gargoyles or Tokoloshes, either way one on each side of only gateway into the garden, keeping whatever/whoever out hopefully... except the Skinks (Trachylepsis) finding a new late afternoon sunning spot! Source One perched on the head, the other weaving through the legs, casting a weary eye on Woody, who know why?

Nothing is innocent in the animals kingdom either, Woody has taken to chasing the lizards of late! Check out the fancy feet on one laying above the head, claws used to assist climbing heights on almost any rough surface.

Before we go strange cloud cutting a line through the sky at sunset, sign of change in weather possibly. Warm then cold making for another change almost daily, we do need rain once again the garden is thirsty!
