Good morning to all my wonderful friends here at @asean.hive. Today is another Wednesday. It is my rest day.
Going for a jog at one of my favourite parks here in Miri. This is the Piasau Park.
This is one of the forest reserves here in the city of Miri, where most animals here are protected as well as the trees here. One of the best places to go for a run, as the scenery is superb. The air is fresh.
There are hornbills up in the trees. Hornbills are one of the official mascots of Sarawak.
I usually come here to jog around the forest. The air here is fresh, and the best thing is that there are not many cars.
This is the Jimmy Trail. This was, very long ago, one of Shell's housing areas for their management, and this area used to be called the Piasau Camp, and many expats used to stay here.
This is an area where they have owls inside, so everyone who passes by here cannot make too much noise.
This is another trail. This area does not have a lot of cars, so it's great to just jog around. Are there snakes? I have never seen one despite being one with nature most of the time. However, I saw a tortoise a while ago. I did not disturb it.
This is the West Gate of the reserve. A lot of tourists come here to take photographs of the native birds that stay around here. This area has its own rangers guarding this area. Sarawak takes wildlife very seriously. Anyone who is found to have illegally captured any of the protected animals, like the hornbills or even some of the tortoises, is committing a serious crime. No imports into Sarawak either. So, it's not easy to buy tortoises here.
Some of the tourists here are taking photos of the birds that are high up in the trees. There is also a musuem that showcases the wildlife.
Some of the birds spiecies that are found here in Miri like this Bushy Crested Hornbill.
This is one of the must visits if you do visit Miri, Sarawak some time in the future.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
