Medio vino y una rosa

Hay noches amigas de partidas
Esconden el reproche
Del destino y sus azares

De mi copa eres vino
Medio mío
Y de otros andares

Sirve la niebla a tu destino
Fulgores de luz y rocío
El alba y sus despertares

Es el sendero que te toca
Venido del cielo
A morir en tu boca

No he de ser piedra ni tropiezo
Acaso frugal brizna
que al viento escapa

Y si el ocaso torna en consuelo
Otro día que en ayer se posa
De todas las dotes de tu pelo
Fuiste medio vino y una rosa.

English

Half a wine and a rose

There are friendly nights of departures
They hide the reproach
Of destiny and its vagaries

From my glass you are wine
Half mine
And from other walks

The mist serves your destiny
Fulgores of light and dew
The dawn and its awakenings

Is the path that touches you
Coming from the sky
To die in your mouth

I shall not be a stone or a stumbling block
Perhaps a frugal wisp
That escapes to the wind

And if the sunset becomes consolation
Of another day that rests on yesterday
Of all the gifts of your hair
You were half a wine and a rose.
