Grayscale - Original Poetry by Krisz Rokk

A flashy screen
steals your dreams
but then you wake up
staring anew
into a machine
promising candies,
flowers,
and other material things
constantly sucking your vital force
and celebrating synchronicities.

Fancy an energetic hygiene?

A voice whispers softly
from behind the curtains
curious to see
whether the host
can truly navigate the ship he’s in.

You’re so addicted to synthetic color schemes!
When was the last time
you allowed different shades of gray
to dictate how you perceive reality?

Monochrome is not my thing
no matter how much you insist
on forcing your values and perspectives
onto my sandboxed beliefs.

In a controlled environment
I do what I please.
So stop injecting your applications
and trying to convince me
that engagement is all that is and ever will be
when this metric is how you’re being remunerated
and valued on billboards and public screens.

Talking is cheap, my dear.
How long can you abstain from a digital lifestyle
without consuming the very ingredients
you shared with the ecosystem willy-nilly?

You see,
I’m more courageous than you think.
Despite the ups and downs I face in my daily routines
I can still sustain myself without relying on artificial grids.
Can you state the same thing about your fabulous recipes?

You consider yourself an almighty king.
However, you forget an essential twist
which makes up the framework of the matrix:
If I stop participating,
you can no longer exist.

Let go.
Breathe.
Turn inwards
and let your true colors
shine through life’s beautiful canvas
as you continue to create blissfully.
