Hello Motherhood community! | ¡Hola comunidad Motherhood!
Greetings, I come with a somewhat different post, this is an interview with my lovely fiancée, Abigail. This idea came to us while we were talking a couple of days or so ago, and it wasn't until today that it finally came to fruition. This post will talk about two things, funny anecdotes from the hormonal storm that is a pregnancy and Abigail's perspective and reflection of them.
After a strong introspection, Abigail noticed that her hormones were in control of her at certain times and decided that she wanted to take more control over the emotions that were moving and dragging her like a storm, with the method of observing her way of acting concerning how I was attending her, considering that like her I am also a first-timer, and it has not been easy for me at the beginning of our pregnancy, she achieved a change.
With this question, I start the interview debacle, I thought Abi was going to hang me, literally, -What are cravings? -Something like a need, on many occasions I feel craving and I think a lot about that food, and until I eat it, my mind feels like it doesn't work, and when you eat it, you feel like it's the tastiest thing in the world.
But, throwing a two-week tantrum over a Pepito? -Hahahaha, even if it's four plates of lentils, a Pepito, arepa with raw onion and mustard, all cravings I've perceived as a necessity, even though I'm fully aware that it's not.
-And the angry outbursts? -At times the hormonal outbursts caused me many feelings, from tantrums over unindulged whims to despair with melancholy, on that emotional roller coaster, I let the hormones drag me into passions.
-When we talked about the haircut episode, how did you feel at that instant? -It was kind of weird, I could no longer stand how my hair was tangled, tangle upon tangle to the point that I was forced to cut a strand already because I couldn't untangle it, triggering my decision to cut my hair since my hair proved very difficult to manage while I was at absolute rest.
-What were you thinking during that roller coaster ride? -You have such strong emotional lows on days that you don't feel like doing anything, let alone spending hours untangling your hair while thinking about the possibility of losing my baby, that doubt was messing with my mind, and the hair was an annoying thing that added to the problems I already had, but that I could change whenever I wanted to.
¡Me veo fea!
-So why did you get depressed by the act of cutting it? -In that state where I just wanted to live for the sake of living, it was inevitable that my hair would curl, and I was just told that I was gonna get it cut, I felt relieved, the trauma came in when I saw the cut strand in my hand, there I realized that I got my hair cut! I look ugly! And at that moment, I didn't feel pretty, it was a lowering of my self-esteem.
-I believed in the instant that the cut had looked bad on me, falling into a phase of despair and grief over the hair loss, in that instant, it represented for me the abandonment of myself, in a series of processes, from accepting that I was in a relationship, the changes of parts of myself, I accepted, in that instant that I was not ready and that one is never ready to be a mother.
- And then what happened? -I fell into a kind of enlightenment, after being comforted for a while. In the realization, that it was more important what I was becoming than what I was leaving behind, with my pregnancy changes and my growth as a person(As a mom, wife, professional, friend, daughter, granddaughter, and woman of God).
-Are those changes by responsibility or by will? -Both, you can desire it, but if you don't act on it, it's useless. In the instant, I understood, that saying that if I want to bring my daughter into the world, implied many more things than I imagined, many changes that took effort, represented by the changes, it was time to move forward, with hormones in tow.
