Yes, I still have many photographs I took on my endless walks in Spain almost two years ago. I still haven't fully recovered my voice; I haven't sung in almost two weeks. But to avoid falling into depression, I've been going for several walks around the city, like last night when we climbed the mountain again to the 脕vila Cross. This time, we wanted to take another friend to see the cross lit up for the first time and were motivated by the full moon in all its splendor, although we missed the blood moon (the eclipse). Walking through Caracas at night is a unique experience, and I inevitably shared anecdotes with my friends, especially about that night in 脷beda, Spain, which, coincidentally, was a Wednesday.
I once wrote in this same community that 脷beda was a Renaissance city, as its architecture seemed to have been preserved over time. I experienced one of the best walks of my life that afternoon, but the real magic happened after our concert. We sang in the Auditorium of the Hospital Santiago, which is actually a cultural center, and the hotel was about a 15-minute walk away, maybe more... The point is that my wife and I managed to make this walk take about an hour because we enjoyed every step, marveling at the architecture, the art, the weather, and especially the imposing silence of midnight. It was a wonderful contrast to our first two nights in Madrid.
Although 脷beda preserves architecture and spaces from the Renaissance era, which is evident in the many castles we saw in the historic center, it was also very modern, like the rest of Spain. We didn't lack anything here, even though the place seemed quite far removed from other major cities. But here, both tourists and those who choose to live here have opted for peace and quiet, an impression we felt from the moment we arrived at midday. Throughout the empty city, advertisements for the upcoming Holy Week were displayed. Sadly, we weren't in 脷beda during those dates, but the preparations were noticeable, and they clearly take this time seriously, as we even found sculptures in the streets honoring Catholic rites, like the first image I'm showing you in this post.
I don't know if life will allow me to walk these streets again; I hope so. But if not, I'm sure that the walk we took, both day and night, will be etched in our minds, in our stories as a couple (since it was before we got married), and in these beautiful photographs that I usually share on my blog for Hive, especially for Wednesday Walk. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who reads, supports, or simply stops by to appreciate the images; I'm often one of those people too. There's nothing better than taking a virtual stroll, inspired by so many places around the world that we learn about through the people who write here. A heartfelt hug to everyone 馃檹
Un sincero abrazo para todos 馃檹
