Today is #tbt Thursday, and this time I'm going back to 2013, when I was singing in the Aragua Symphonic Choir and we lived a special musical experience in Caracas. I remember that we were going to sing Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony at the Teresa Carreño Theater and Beethoven's ninth symphony with Gustavo Dudamel and we were very excited, since that activity took us a whole week, and in fact it was part of my process for deciding to move to another city and dedicate my life to music.
¡Hoy es Jueves de #tbt!, y en esta oportunidad me traslado al año 2013, cuando cantaba el la coral sinfónica de Aragua y vivimos una experiencia musical especial en Caracas. Recuerdo que íbamos a cantar la Segunda Sinfonía de Gustav Mahler y la Novena Sinfonía de Beethoven en el Teatro Teresa Carreño con Gustavo Dudamel y estábamos muy emocionados, ya que esa actividad nos tomó una semana completa, y de hecho fue parte de mi proceso por decidirme a mudarme de ciudad y dedicar mi vida a la música.
Honestly, we were already experts at singing that music, those choruses are sung a lot in Venezuela and we have them by heart. They are always rehearsed so as not to let our guard down, but a week of rehearsals is a lot of free time for sightseeing. I was just getting to know Caracas little by little with each concert in the capital, but there was always little time until this week in February 2013. I had several clandestine escapades, but the pictures I share with you today are from an official outing with the Aragua choir director, so we had to be good 😅
Sinceramente ya éramos expertos cantando esa música, esos coros se cantan mucho en Venezuela y los tenemos de memoria. Siempre se ensayan para no bajar la guardia, pero una semana de ensayos es mucho tiempo libre para turistear. Yo a penas estaba conociendo a Caracas poco a poco con cada concierto en la capital, pero siempre había poco tiempo hasta esta semana en Febrero de 2013. Tuve varias escapadas clandestinas, pero las fotografías que hoy les comparto se puede decir que son de una salida oficial junto a la directora del coro de Aragua, así que nos tuvimos que portar bien 😅
She didn't want to go too far, but the area around the Hotel Alba in Caracas is full of beauty and art. It was the first time I went to the Science and Fine Arts museums, and I visited Los Caobos Park from beginning to end with my closest group of friends. In the museums we saw many sculptures and an exhibition of animals, but I no longer remember the material of them, I only remember that upon entering the first thing you could appreciate was a large giraffe, an animal that strangely I have not been able to appreciate to this day, but visiting the museum gave me an idea of them.
Ella no quería ir muy lejos, pero vaya que en los al rededores del Hotel Alba en Caracas se puede apreciar mucha belleza y arte. Fue la primera vez que entré a los museos de ciencia y de Bellas Artes, además de visitar el Parque Los Caobos de principio a fin con mi grupo de amigos más íntimos. En los museos vimos muchas esculturas y una exhibición de animales, pero ya no recuerdo el material de los mismos, solo recuerdo que al entrar lo primero que se podía apreciar era una gran jirafa, un animal que extrañamente no he podido apreciar hasta el día de hoy, pero visitar el museo me dio una idea de ellos.
The park was what captivated me the most. In fact, now that I live in the city it is my favorite place, there is a lot of vegetation and that makes it the coolest, plus there are many sculptures and events to entertain the family. There are also very empty corners, to meditate and connect with nature. Just these days I'm about to use this park also for physical exercise, it's the only thing I haven't done there and in fact it's what I need the most at the moment, so maybe I'll share photos there soon.
El parque fue lo que más me cautivó. De hecho, ahora que vivo en la ciudad es mi lugar favorito, hay mucha vegetación y eso lo hace el m{as fresco, además de que hay muchas esculturas y eventos para divertir a la familia. También hay rincones muy vacíos, para meditar y conectar de la naturaleza. Justo estos días estoy por usar este parque también para ejercicio físico, es lo único que no he hecho ahí y de hecho es lo que más necesito en este momento, así que quizás comparta fotos por allá próximamente.
Every memory and experience leaves a learning experience. This trip was important and decisive for me, since six months later I had moved to another city. Little by little I fell in love with the place and the professional work I was doing. It took many years to get to where I wanted to be, but it was a great start for me. Many of the people in these photos are still good friends from my hometown, but you definitely have to leave a lot behind to keep moving up levels, so it's always good to step out of your comfort zone, dream and take a chance for more...
Cada recuerdo y vivencia nos deja un aprendizaje. Este viaje fue importante y decisivo para mí, ya que seis mese más tarde me había mudado de ciudad. Poco a poco me fui enamorando del lugar y del trabajo profesional que estaba haciendo. Pasaron muchos años para llegar a donde quería estar, pero fue un gran inicio para mí. Muchas de las personas de estas fotos siguen siendo buenos amigos de mi ciudad natal, pero definitivamente hay que dejar mucho atrás para seguir subiendo niveles, así que siempre es bueno salir de nuestra zona de confort, soñar y arriesgarse por más...
