Naija ATM Drama

This morning, I needed to make a cash payment but unfortunately I had
no cash on me.

Have been so used to doing cashless transaction that today's own was
more of an inconvenience for me.

So I headed town to the nearest bank to used the ATM.

As usual, crowd full ground.

But what got my attention was a customer who was also on the queue, but decided to make herself a bank official.

The line was long and as expected the security guy had his hand full
coordinating everyone.

And he was doing a fine job from my judgement.

But this customer, who was at the back of the line, just kept shouting
out orders

"2 people should enter at once"
"Madam come outside, let another person go"
"Oya, make una move naw"

I felt irritated by this lady's hyper-activity.

I Was even expecting one of the women in front to shout back at her cos I know say most women no like make one person dey INSTRUCT dem anyhow.

But the great thing about it all was that with all the lady's annoying
act, the security guy just kept his cool and kept doing his job.

He did not for once acknowledge the presence of this over-sabi lady.

You can call it professionalism or being matured.

For me I would refer to it as the art of focusing ones attention on
what is important and ignoring the noise.

We all face this kind of noise in our daily lives.

From the neighbour next door, to colleagues at work or that family
member that likes to talk.
Spending extra energy trying to make them see reasons why you have made
a conscious decision to work on YOU might be the biggest waste of
precious resources.

When people try to come into my world and condemn what I am doing
without even starting a conversation to find out my reasons.

Out of respect, I simply look at them, smile and say

"My Sister, na God go help us"

Then find an excuse to leave them.

I did not say putting aside the urge to prove you are right is easy.

But in a case where it seems the person has their mind made up on a
point already.

I think just practicing this art might be the best solution.

NOTE: When I finished at the ATM and was leaving the bank. I noticed the woman was quiet.
That was probably as result of everyone ignoring her.
I bet you can imagine what would have happened if someone else wanted
to correct her.
