[Movie] Fiore - Love behind bars

Youth. A stage of rebellion. It's part of our development and growth. Who wasn't rebellious in their teens? Who didn't think they were king of the world as a teenager? Some manage to channel and control that rebellion without breaking the rules. Others, however, cross the line and must face the consequences. Some change for the better, while others choose to continue down that path for the wrong reasons.

This film is 10 years old and was the third feature film directed by Claudio Giovannesi. He also wrote the screenplay and even composed the music. The theme of crime and romance was something the filmmaker had already explored in one of his previous films. He knew this screenwriter and director because he was part of the team behind the Gomorrah saga and directed the film Piranha: Sons of the Camorra.

Coincidentally, this was the first feature film for actress Daphne Scoccia, a talented Italian actress who captivated everyone in this film. She is the essence of the movie. They even used her name for the character. The actress, along with the director's work, brings considerable realism to the story. The story certainly justifies it; what's unusual is that it combines social commentary with a very interesting romantic subplot.

The film captivated me; it has a good start. It introduces us to Daphne, a teenager who spends her time at her friend's house, on the streets, and stealing cell phones on the subway. Eventually, she's caught and sent to a juvenile detention center, which has a wing for boys and another for girls.

As a prison drama, it works, although it's not a maximum-security prison, and there's no torture or anything like that. Of course, there's violence, but it's not excessive. Fights, fights among the inmates. They're young, and it's a low-security prison; the sentences are only a few years.

This is where the romantic aspect of the film comes into play. Two young people are detained in different wings, where they can't communicate directly. Little by little, they grow closer, get to know each other, and fall in love. The director has a great talent for directing and creating a beautiful romance between these two young people. Without realizing it, the story completely captivated me. That love behind bars, where they can't even touch or kiss each other.

As in all love stories, there are ups and downs, conflicts, and suffering. Love is suffering, I've always said that. The director's skill also lies in maintaining a balance between the romantic narrative and the social aspect of the story. The young woman's life, her dysfunctional family, with a father who was also in prison and is now rebuilding his life on parole. The possibility of her being released on parole, but the clash with her father and her new family.

It's a film with a beautiful story that touched my romantic side and managed to keep me captivated with its visuals and, of course, with a couple of excellent songs that fit perfectly with the scenes in which they appear.

La juventud. Una etapa de rebeldía. Forma parte de nuestra formación y crecimiento. ¿Quién no fue rebelde en su adolescencia? ¿Quién no se creyó el rey del mundo siendo adolescente? Algunos logran canalizar y controlar esa rebeldía sin romper las reglas. Otros, en cambio, cruzan la línea y deben afrontar las consecuencias. Algunos cambian para mejor, mientras que otros prefieren seguir por ese camino por motivos equivocados.

Esta película tiene 10 años y fue el tercer largometraje dirigido por Claudio Giovannesi. También se encargó del guion e incluso de la música. El tema del crimen y el romance era algo que el cineasta ya había explorado en una de sus películas anteriores. Conocía a este guionista y director porque formó parte del equipo de la saga Gomorra y dirigió la película Pirañas: Hijos de la Camorra.

Casualmente, este fue el primer largometraje de la actriz Daphne Scoccia, una talentosa actriz italiana que cautivó a todos en esta obra. Ella es la esencia de la película. Incluso usaron su nombre para el personaje. La actriz, junto con el trabajo del director, aporta un realismo considerable a la historia. La historia sin duda lo justifica; lo inusual es que combina la crítica social con una subtrama romántica muy interesante.

La película me cautivó; tiene un buen comienzo. Nos presenta a Daphne, una adolescente que pasa el tiempo en casa de su amiga, en la calle y roba teléfonos móviles en el metro. Finalmente, la atrapan y la envían a un centro de detención juvenil, que tiene un ala para chicos y otra para chicas.

Como drama carcelario, funciona, aunque no es una prisión de máxima seguridad, y no hay tortura ni nada por el estilo. Claro que hay violencia, pero no desproporcionada. Peleas, peleas entre los internos. Son jóvenes y es una prisión de baja seguridad; las condenas son de solo unos pocos años.

Aquí es donde entra en juego el aspecto romántico de la película. Dos jóvenes están detenidos en alas diferentes, donde no pueden comunicarse directamente. Poco a poco se acercan, se conocen y se enamoran. El director tiene un gran talento para dirigir y crear un hermoso romance entre estos dos jóvenes. Sin darme cuenta, la historia me cautivó por completo. Ese amor tras las rejas, donde ni siquiera pueden tocarse ni besarse.

Como en todas las historias de amor, hay altibajos, conflictos y sufrimiento. El amor es sufrimiento, siempre lo he dicho. La habilidad del director también reside en mantener un equilibrio entre la narrativa romántica y el aspecto social de la historia. La vida de la joven, su familia disfuncional, con un padre que también estuvo en prisión y ahora reconstruye su vida en libertad condicional. La posibilidad de que ella salga en libertad condicional, pero el choque con su padre y su nueva familia.

Es una película con una hermosa historia que tocó mi lado romántico y logró mantenerme cautivado con sus imágenes y, por supuesto, con un par de excelentes canciones que encajan a la perfección con las escenas en las que aparecen.
