Beer Saturday — how to look like a newbie

Okay, time to get back to posting after a lull! I actually have a plan for working it back into my schedule.

This is my contribution to @detlev's weekly Bear Saturday event. I didn't manage to get this posted last weekend, but I was thrilled to see in this blog post that you can post any day of the week.

My husband and I took a weekend trip to a cute little Minnesota town recently for our wedding anniversary. (27 years!)

It is an adorable town, called Lanesboro, which is a few hours south of Minneapolis, and a nice drive for us.

I had taken a nap in the car, and it was a few hours until our dinner reservation, so while my husband caught a few winks in our B&B, I of course went looking for a pub. (As you do!)

It turns out that is exactly what the town has to offer. Seriously. There were a few small family restaurants, a quaint museum, and a few other little businesses and that was about it. Oh, and pubs. You pretty much can spit in any direction and find a pub! So I picked the VFW hall, which was actually quite charming. It was very quiet for a Saturday afternoon.

I was in the mood for an IPA, and there was no such thing on tap. Which meant (enter scary music) I had to pour the beer from a bottle into a glass, and (even though back in the day I was a bartender) I have either lost the knack or I never had it!

And now you get to see the results.

And... oopsy!

It's okay... after a few minutes it finally settled!

So I enjoyed a beer and some snack nuts and then headed back to the B&B, and off we went to dinner at a lovely little supper club. But we had to drive to the next town because, as we've discussed there are no restaurants suitable for a date night in Lanesboro.
