It was frigid again today — well below that comfortable freezing temperature that feels so blistering cold in the fall and becomes a welcome friend in the winter. Plus a fierce wind was blowing. I looked out the window of my office to see snow whirling and drifting in ghostly gusts of wind.
But I went out. I needed to. There is just something about getting out in those elements and breathing real air that fortifies me! As you can see in the following picture, the light of the day was failing fast and snow was drifting across the path. I had to walk with my coat hood clutched around my head.
When I got to the courtyard between office buildings, it was a little more protected.
It is a lovely courtyard with ponds and paths, and in the nicer seasons many people are out at lunch and on breaks. Now it is completely white with snow, so you can barely see where the ponds are! But they have kindly scraped the sidewalk so it’s possible to take a brisk walk around.
